Having been asked the question why I left TVR ownership, I thought it might be interesting to throw it open on here. When I bought my Aston the dealer said he had recently sold two V8V's to TVR drivers. How many more I wonder! And why the move on?

Interestingly my dealer said he took both TVR's in px. And that was early this year when the market was hardly buoyant.

At least three I know of (a DB9 Volante, a DB9 and my V8V).
Trade-in was rubbish so sold my Griff privately within a week for £3k more.
I moved on because SWMBO was frightened by the sheer straight line grunt of the TVR and screamed and ducked in her seat every time I pushed the loud pedal too hard. Funnily enough though she has just been done for 90 in a 70, whilst I tend to cruise at a less illegal speed.

I had a Chimaera and after that a Tuscan 3.6 Sold the Tuscan and bought a V8 Vantage 4.3. Missed the power and speed of the TVR but loved the finish and exclusivity of the Aston. So I sold the 4.3 and bought a proper V8 Vantage X-Pack from 1989 with the full RS Williams 7.0 Litre conversion. For me this is the car that combines the brutality of the TVR with the sense of occasion that only an Aston Martin can provide. All IMHO of course...

Had a Chim and then a Tuscan S. The Tuscan was a little too 'raw' for my wife, but she loves the DB7...

On paper they have similar performance but in the real world the DB7 is the better car but strangely never puts the ear to ear smile on my face that my reliable V8 cerbera did. The cerbera always felt (and sounded) like a race car that had taken a wrong turn on a race track and got onto the publuc highway by mistake.

Tricked up Griff for me (5.4 litre engine plus one or two other bits ) Then Db7 V V and now a DB9 Volante Outgrew the Griff for what we wanted the car for - mostly Grand Touring tbh...

we had both for 3.5 years...sadly the Sagaris went a few months ago (tuscan for a few years before that)...will probably get another Tuscan next year (well my other half will, as her sportscar) ..in fact until Jan 08 we had an all Brit sportscar fleet, with an Elise for trackdays n sprints, a Sagaris as Sarahs daily driver (!) and my Vantage

That's correct Lady T. we are from the old style Pistonheads era, just like many of the posters on this thread... lady topaz said: koen said: I had a Chimaera and after that a Tuscan 3.6 Sold the Tuscan and bought a V8 Vantage 4.3. After owning most of the TVR range from 1994 to 2005, I'm now back in something british, an AM V8 Vantage.

Currently in a T350C but avidly looking for an 07/08 V8V 4,3 but worried I should add a bit and get a 4.7 with sport pack as I do love the TVR's sheer grunt...
A 4.3 with upgrade to 400bhp perhaps???

Had a Chimaera a few years ago, but came to the DB9 via a few other vehicles, so I didn't move directly from TVR to AM.
