Just Purchased a Sagaris shell, what chassis to use
Discussion
Hi guys. i just splashed out and got myself a sagaris shell, (most of you prob see this on here for sale) not quite sure what i am going to do yet. i currently am repairing a t350c and have another t350c for sunday fun. was looking at dropping the body on one of my t350s but have come accross a tuscan chassis for sale on here, i do believe that all the chassis are roughly the same, is this correct?? and would it work with little modification??
or is anyone aware of anywhere which has a battered Sagaris for scrap??
thanks guys Daniel
oh yeah when is the great totham meet in essex??

John Reid of Grantura Engineering has a Sag Chassis hanging on his wall. He may do a deal with you.
i think he wants 3k for a complete rolling chassis with all corners which is pretty cheap IMHO.N.
I'd be amazed if anyone would do one at that...

How about one of the new chassis being built at Bristol Avenue that is widened as standard to allow the installation of an LS engine?
Been gone for a long while, but what's this about? Tongue in cheek? Or something with meat?V8 GRF said:
No it's serious, Fred Tonge's GTF company are building new chassis' right now.
Interesting. After all those years folk spent talking about bringing a TVR to the US, that's all you really need. Can't bring over a chassis that has been stamped with a VIN and been part of a licensed car. But get a virgin chassis, transfer all the bits sans engine onto it, and you've got a rolling chassis for a kit car. Shame they weren't doing it a few years ago. Neat that they are now

Great idea. Then stick a supercharged LS in it. And tub the rear to fit plenty rubber to help with any traction problems and paint it black with a cream leather custom interior and..........
Sorry, was just dreaming aloud.

when you put the shell and the chassis together how are you going to register it? Will you need to put it through a SVA? Also what age will it be? Thinking it could end up on a Q plate?
I am interested in an answer to the above - this really does say Q plate all over it.blackiepaul said:

Thanks for your input.
If all major components are NEW bar one part which must be reconditioned as new you can IVA (SVA) the car on a NEW plate....
Most people build kit cars this way, so everything is brand new with receptis, appart from the engine for example which is second hand, but reconditioned.....
So you could quite legally build and register a brand new car... you might have to call it something other than a TVR.... but who cares...
Or, build the car from a "donor" or selection of "donors" and recieve an age related plate based around the age of the engine/donors.....
Getting a Q plate would be the last option and tends to happen if you dont have enough papwerwork to fit into either of the catagories above....
Having a Q plate is only a negative thing if you have no idea what you are talking about... at the end of the day its just a letter...

Hi,
Do they not need a vehicle report to SVA the car against though? I brought the only Version NISMO 350Z into the UK a couple of years ago and it took 7 months to get it once it arrived in the UK as there was no model report for the car. I ended up having o get letters from Japan etc which differences from the origonal spec - even things like the seat belts being a different spec and different tyres.
Paul.........
