Video: New Porsche 911 Turbo

Porsche R&D chief walks us round the new 2010 model

The latest generation of 911 Turbo was unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show last month, and now Porsche has released this video of R&D executive vice pres Wolfgang Durheimer giving us a tour of the new model.

Higlights include a 500hp 3.8-litre flat six with active engine mounts that's apparently good for 194mph and combined cycle mileage of 24mpg.

More importantly, with the optional Sports Chrono package activated to maximise attack, you can apparently reach 62mph in 3.4secs in the new car. But don't let us spoil the fun - over to you, Wolfgang...

So they've finally got the VW gearbox they were after. Looks a very nice car, but then again, what new 911 Turbo hasn't?

I disagree, it's nice to see that they know what looks good and don't change it for the sake of change.

When most new cars are evolving into complete monstrosities, I ‘m glad Porsche are sticking to the ” if it aint broke don’t try to fix it” mentality

What's "11.6 liters consumption" in a sentence that makes sense?

EDIT I opened my eyes.

I'm amazed they released the old car with those crappy little gear selector buttons on the steering wheel, they looked like volume controls and although I've never driven one I can't imagine they were much of an experience enhancer.

Anyone know the "Ring" time for this car. Porsche are usually quick to shove it down our throats about how quick there new car is around the Nurburgring but they have not been so forthcoming since the GTR arrived. Gen1 997TT did it in 7:38.

Without wishing to sound boring, 500bhp, 194mph and a combined cycle of 24mpg is pretty impressive!

Well just come back from a 1400 mile round trip to Skye in the old Turbo and any one that can have a bad word for these fantastic cars does not know sh*t from a shovel. My turbo is not new having clocked up over thirty thousand miles in the old girl it's not a new love thing. After three years and 30K this car still rewards and surprises. The ground covering (safe) capabilities are truly remarkable nothing but nothing can keep up with this car and you don't even break a sweat. Is it legal to marry a car ? lick

And yes if I had 50K to spare I would buy the new one in a blink of the eye.

If anyone else is confused by that, it's 11.6 litres of fuel per 100km (or just over 24mpg).
