I know that a healthy 450 or 500+ Chim can hit the rev limiter in 5th but im wondering what is the highest speed thats been recorded at events such as fighting torque, vmax and similar.

I had my old 400 up to a GPS recorded (and speedo) 152 on the straight at a Marham track day. Felt very light on the front end and not particularly safe!

152 in a 400! thats impressive. Im aiming for 170 next year. I think i will have the power but guess i may need some aerodynamic aids sorting.

I had my 4.0HC up to 134 yesterday and it also started to feel a bit light at the font end. Made me smile though. Perhaps strapping a fat bloke to my bonnet will help balance things out as there is already one further back in the driving seat. Mod edit to remove info

A brief, very brief, GPS indicated 142, with about 500-750rpm to the Rev Limit. I wasn't studying the tacho too closely strangely enough! It did not feel stable at all though, and the n/side corner of the bonnet was lifting quite a bit.
I have no plans to repeat or better the exercise without the aid of a rolling road!

Have you considered getting that looked at?

Thats the one advantage of a very long, very wide runway - it gives you a little confidence theres nothing to hit. The front end really did feel disconnected though and I'd not have liked to have to steer in any way!

If the Chim is set up correctly, it shouldn't go light at the front... Mine doesn't, even at the limiter in 5th @ just under 160. I've hit 160 a couple of times, and although its rather loud and the wind noise is significant, it wasn't that bad at all... (With no front splitter). The Griff, on the other hand should go light at the front, owed to the angled back radiator as opposed to the Chim's upright one. This acts as a rudimentry wing at high speed and pushes the front up. Furthermore, the Griff's rear end is shorter than the Chim's, which creates some turbulance at the rear. After speaking to SC-Power about the possibility of some aero mods for the Chim, similar to their Griff ones, I was surprised to hear that (due to the points above) they aren't going to make any as the Chim doesn't need them. It is a far more aerodynamically stable car than the Griff. Consequently, a nicely set up one should be fine at 170  You will need to get creative with your choice of diff though, as the BTR in Griffmeras comes with the longest ratio that they do. To lengthen the gears, you'll need to either go with a custom Quaife ATB with modified ratios, or change the gearbox. Post supercharger, mine feels too short in the gears, but I'm not going to change as it appears to be a real PITA to do so!

I will be on Nitrons with 3 way rears so i should be able to set it up nicely. I am looking into stretching the diff maybe to 3.08 but if thats not sorted then i already have about 6% extra in the Mickey Thompsons that are 26.1" dia. I also intend to open up the rear inner arches as much as possible while the bodies off so i can fit 28" tyres if i wish. These will give me over 13% extra gearing over standard so i think the 170 is achievable

Derek, These guys obviously need the top end of the M6 as a test track...My last court case was in Applebey Magistrates... 5 points only , luckily....

I had 155 on the clock on the A7 in Germany but I suspect there was some optimism in the clock, although the Audi A8 did eventualy get out of my way. Next day I found the front nearside disc was cracked and the off side brake hose had been cut and sealled !!!!!!!!
