Just out of interest, can you fit a tow bar to an E46 3-series coupe? Can't see why not, but I remember having one on my 3-series saloon (the BMW removable model, which I fancy again) and just wanted to check as it may mean I can get a coupe instead of an estate...!

Cheers!

Great, thanks - it'll be a 330Ci and only towing a motorbike, so should be fine!

BMW produce one for the bargain price of €250 (or €440 for the detachable one):

Fantastic, and what a bargain.

I sold my old 3-series saloon (E46 320D) to a friend and that had the detachable tow bar fitment on it, which he never uses, so was hoping to buy that back off him and chuck it on my E46 330Ci (when I get one). I take it it is the same fitment/part number for all E46 models?

Does the hitch on its own include the electrical hookup? Or is that the "Retrofit kit, electr. additional parts" (another €166)

Good call, I imagine it'll be seperate as you don't need the electrics to be legal, as long as the numberplate and lights are still visible!

i have a witter non detachable fitted to my E46 coupe and only keep it on during the summer, the viewable section is easily removed as its only 2 bolts and the cut out on the diffuser is only on the bottom and you can't see it.
i only use it for a few month during the summer for towing a tent or the odd ski and remove it as it does spoil the look.
it was really easy to fit too.

It should fit, may need some minor cutting of the diffuser or bumper.
