just spotted this, if anybody is up for the pain, the price seems right, the ad says the engine was not out of a crash

Seems quite cheap.
Don't forget it's an FSI engine that needs converting to normal injection though....
This is the reason they're not worth much, you can't really do much with them.
For me, this is good if I ever need a spare....

yes i bottled out of that idea, making the exhaust, throttle bodies, injection system, V10 ECU mapping but who knows maybe one day I will
be up the challenge....my compliments that you have done this, the sound of this engine has quite some appeal

I am going to make a good video soon...with sound of the car wilst driving.
Engine wise, I'm very pleased with the V10, it has more power than you ever wil want!
For a technological point of view, there are many new and exiting possibilities,
the new RS6 V10 twin-turbo for example. Bas is also looking at a couple of W12 that are available.
Turbocharging one of those should be interesting....

that's right!
It's 2 VR6 engines, length wise it would fit in an Ultima, with turbo's is would be cramp, but probably OK
the normally aspirated w12 is quite easy to get hold of for reasonable money.
With turbo's, you would have to find a crashed Bentley Continantal GT or somthing.
Still you would have to find/fabricate a flywheel, clutch, gearbox....
And it could be a hasle to get the motor managment running.

Based on my experiences with the R8 V10 I think this would be a great engine/gearbox for the ultima. One day!

Hi bluesatin,
I don't know if you're aware, but the engine is allready in there:
www.mkb.demon.nl

As for the gearbox, I´m sure that someone will atempt a 4WD conversion some day (outside of the twin/hayabusa Zcars one)
But it wil be a huge job...technicaly interesting, but it's debatable if it will be a better car for it.

Maurits- that looks stunning (sounds rather good on the dyno)
