Both stability control and brake warning light are on.
I'm hoping it's no coincidence that I had two new tyres fitted today and the tyre monkey has just jiggled a sensor or something. Is this feasible or should I be more concerned?

Hi

If this helps I had the same problem. Prior to the lighs coming on I have done some suspension work are adjusted the tracking to get the steering wheel pointing straight. I then had the tracking lazer aligned and the problem was solved. The steering had a sensor to tell the DSC etc when the steering is pointing straight. My system reset itself, if you are unlucky you will have to take it into a BMW or Indy dealer to be re-calibrated only they have the equipment.

I had it put on the reader which reported a sensor failure. I booked it in for the following week to replace the sensor, c. £120 IIRC, but the download or whatever cleared the 'fault' and it's not returned since. Both ABS and TCS working correctly so will replace sensor if they light up again.

The DSC control unit was showing the Steering angel sensor had an internal failure.

We re-calibrated the steering angel sensor to zero. And then cleared the fault down.

It looks like doing this has corrected the internal fault which may just have been a voltage spike.

Aha! Hello Stu. bow

Sorry dude, I misunderstood then. I thought you said the ECU said the sensor was faulty so thought I'd struck it lucky when the lights didn't reappear. Thanks for your time and experience - much appreciated.

If anyone needs a good BMW indie in the South West or Wales you won't do better than the geezer above. thumbup

The other 'non-indie' has requested that I take it to them to inspect what they have (or haven't) done. I'll let you know asap.

Had exactly the same thing about a month ago. Not sure if it was coincidence but it started not long after I had pads and disks replaced, but I then noticed that one of the rear springs had broken (common E46 fault) and the dealer replaced that. He couldn't find anything wrong with the sensors and the warning lights haven't come on since, so I'd suggest getting your garage to put it ona ramp to check the rear springs (they will affect the ride height and therefore may trip the senor I guess).
