Well as soon as I found out that the Speed 12 is temporarily just down the road from me in Beaulieu I hotfooted it down there today to get some photo's!! Its parked directly opposite their Vixen which is nice, managed to get some good shots. Everything is very tightly packed in which limits you a bit but I'm happy with the results thumbup

It’s a great shame that this car does not get out more, I understand it is extreme and that it is great to be on show when not in use but my good would it be amazing to see this car just come past me on a random day, In the flesh it looks outstanding but on the road I can only imagine how awesome it must be to see and hear, I appreciate the fact that it will be too fast, too stiff too extreme for any real use on the road but still I just wish one day I can see just how awesome the performance is on a straight long enough and wide enough to unleash it good and proper, I have read incredible stories of how fast this car is but it’s just myth as I have never seen what it can do, One day I hope its unleashed somewhere running well so I can see just how it compares to the really really really breathtaking performance machinery out there!

As with many myths, the reality never meets peoples expectations, so better to keep it a myth....

biggrin Awesome pics! I really wanted to go see it yesterday but couldn't afford the petrol, and my dad (who I hasten to add has a TVR!) was more interested in going to a stamp auction than going to see this. Does anybody else think I should disown him?!

ummm.....well, on road tyres, no it'd kill you quite quickly. On slicks however, when it can really put its power down, it'll do 06- in around 3.5 (but the clutch will be fried after a couple of standing starts), and thunder on to something in the region of 230-240mph. HOWEVER, what's scary is the time it takes to get there....

Yep I’ve seen this a few times and with the minimal outings this car seems to have had I thought this was when the car was issued in evo and not wanting to rev for some reason hence down on power, I want to see this car in a line up like the old top gear drag race with the cerbra, You just don’t get how fast the car is when its on its own you need to see the car up against a range of other cars that people are familiar with.

Ideally I want to see this car on a set of road legal tires like r888’s against a feild of other cars on R888's too.

I’m not a 0-60 man for me it is a pointless figure a figure that is abused by many manufactures to sell cars to people that want to brag down the pub that there car is 3tenths faster to 60 than yours etc, I understand it shows how well the car grips and launch's which is important but for the speed 12 I want to see more of how well it pulls and its acceleration piles on once it is going, for me I want figures like 0-100mph, 30-70mph, 1/4mile times and 1/4mile top speeds which give you a better indication of it’s performance.

The performance rumours I have heard are that the car can do 0-150mph in around 10sec’s and 0-100 in around 5sec’s. But I suppose these are on slicks.

Great photos, I'll see if I can dig some out from the motor show.

Unfortunately I wasn't one of the two lucky £45m winners. Ho hum, best keep saving hehe

Figures are not everything you know wink I've seen both variants of the Speed 12 racing against other comparable machinery. And whilst it did'nt quite have the handling to match the likes of the McLaren F1 in the corners, the straight line speed was more than a match if not better. The problem is traction and getting the thing off the line quickly as opposed to sitting in a cloud of tyre smoke and not going anywhere!!

Anyways here is some more Speed 12 porn of both varieties....

Well, it's what I've picked up from John Reid, Ahonen, Roop, and Claire Cummings, all of whom have a certain idea of the car's performance.

Some say it's faster, others doubt it'd be that fast and would just blow up.....I certainly remember it being very quick in the GT2 class it raced in, and that was with restrictors.

Isn't that actually a mock up, or was it a running car?

From what I remember of the time yes this was a runner. Not sure if it became a road or race car. I think it was a roadcar but as I say not really certain.... Others will probably know better
