As I've now finished the bathroom refit (loads of brownie points for the next few months) it's time to look at the CanAm so she's off the road now. I'm looking at the following this Winter;
Getting wheels refurbished as I can't afford the Forgeline ones I want, black centres with polished outers and a pin stripe, thinking of sending them to Image Wheels unless anyone has any other suggestions.
New alloy radiator as mine is still leaking.
Taking the centre section off and filling all voids that have a hot water pipe running through with high density foam to reduce radiant heat in the cockpit, banking on a good summer next year smile plus routing fresh air into the cockpit to aid the air con (suggestions appreciated)
Taking out the engine have an oil leak from the rear crank seal, plus I have I have a noise (can't describe it) from the clutch area(I think)when under load, so will look at replacing it or look for obvious signs of wear.
I also have a clicking from the drive shafts, so will initially repack these to see if that cures it.
That's about it for now.

Graham

Haven't got an idea at the moment but will find out in the next couple of weeks......I'm think it's going to be around £100 per corner mark.

Hi Graham

Long time no speak! Must give you a call!

Winterjobs a plenty! Just about to get the MOT done then it's a new top end! New heads, gaskets then I'll fit the final pulley on the ProCharger so I can run max boost for next year. I'll be getting some new headers made and a making a new exhaust system so I can run in plenty of events next year! I'm making some new induction tubes at the moment and have some nice new valve covers to fit. The sequential gear changer is all working now, but due to a lack of MOT has yet to be tested on the road. I can only go from 1st to 2nd on the drive but so far so good. I've done very little this year due to one thing or another but plan to do plenty next year.

Best regards Dave

When my engine is hot, I have quite a loud rattle, which disappears when I increase the revs or push down the clutch pedal. I'm guessing it's the clutch thrust bearing, unless any of you can think of something else! (According to Ted, it's quite a common fault with porsche clutches, usually "cured" by raising the tickover!)
I will be sorting this over the winter.

.
Just like if my car burns lots of oil, the cure is to drain all the oil out of the engine!!!!!!!!!!idea

Dont think so.......cant see porsche curing their cars with turning the tickover up....

''yes sir, your car is due a recall.................... ''teacher

''what will you be doing to it at the recall????''confused

''We are turning the tick over up so you dont get a clutch rattle, turning the sterio up so you dont hear your wife screaming with worry over the cost , and fitting an airfreshener so you cant smell our bullst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!''

I know you said you needed ideas for fresh air mods for the cabin , but getting rid of the engine is not the only way to reduce heat...laugh

Graham and i had a chat and we decided the best way for him to cool things down was to cut the floor out of the car and power it Flintstones style. The the engine is out to save weight, the fuel tanks will be converted to hold lucozade to fuel the power house up front. Any spare energy will be sold to the national grid.

my clutch had an urethane bushing which required to change the thrust bearing in the box, I can imagine that this is the upgrade from Porsche to avoid the noises you are hearing, if I remember right the old thrust bearing is 32 mm and the new one is 34 mm. I noticed this "upgrade" because my gearbox would not go on the clutch........!
