Shared ownership supercar

I'm considering either a Lamborghini Gallardo Spider or a Ferrari 430 Spider as my next purchase (as per my previous post) and at the moment the Lamborghini appears to be winning - I spoke to a very close friend of mine about it earlier in the week and he suggested a joint purchase - which on the face of it seems to be quite a good idea. He's fairly into cars ( has a 997 4s) and I've got half a dozen cars already so neither of us would need to use it all the time. As a bonus he spends at least one week a month at his place in Spain and has suggested the car lives in the garage of my new house - all sounds good to me - we'd either buy it outright 50/50 or one of us would finance it via a single name agreement (with a side agreement in place) share the deposit and put a years worth of payments into a joint bank account and share all associated costs of servicing/repairs etc. I've known him for 30 years, he's my closest friend and can't see any issues with it - but would be interested to hear if anyone has bought a supercar with a friend in this way ?

If I am not mistaken SimonSpider is the man to speak to.. He has joint ownership with his lambo..

Had a 996 C4S (when new) part owned with my dad, and shared the Lambo with him as well. 996 deal was alternate months. Lambo was that I would wear the capital cost, he would take care of maintenence and storage.

In the end I sold it to him, he'd done more miles than me so I sold it for only a little less than I paid for it.

996 didn't work out quite so neatly and it was 6yrs before we tried again!
