Rear Window Demister Trouble

Hi There
Anyone else having problems with rear window demister part working on VXR8?

Top part around high level brake light and also first straight line all the way across not working



Don't want to go to warranty just yet incase I'm missing something i.e some BMW's use some of demister for ariel antenna (330 Convertible metal roof for example)
Already used warranty for a brand new rear alloy as paint flaking off (500mls on it!!!)

Apart from that 1800mls on it and love it

Yep, see my recent thread on warranty stuff. If you ask they will tell you its not covered by warranty for some weird reason!
But fear not Dougie from VX has confirmed the demister is covered. I have exactly the same issue as you and its right in my line of sight, so its not good. Im still trying to get it sorted by Dougie is helping out. You will need to take it in to get them to log it, then just PM dougie with your details and he will guide them through it.

Yeah IM still waiting for my call from the dealers... Apparently its under control.. just not visible to me yet. Ill chase Dougie when Im back from my Xmas Holiday if Ive not had a return call by then.

My window had no dealer sticker on and still does not work on the top rows, so that reason is dealer bullshit. I can live with the letterbox view though, and I don't want a new rear window fitting with all associated potential for leaks.

I also have the same issues with the rear window i.e. a sticker has been pulled off and suffered damage, only thing is I am the first owner and I made sure that the dealer did not put a sticker on the rear window. I've been in touch with customer services and told them this and they have told me that there is no way that this will be approved as a warranty claim.
My car is also an 09 so is there anychance that this rear window issue is down to a bad batch of rear windows. I finally managed to speak with someone in Picador to confirm that there was no other stickers on the rear window. He confirmed this but he did make a good point "what car manufacturer in their right minds would fit a sticker that would damage any part of the" mmmm?????

Customer services are now saying that they will discuss with their technical team again but I'm not holding my breath.

The Plot thickens!!

Car was in getting indicator relays replaced, and asked them to re-check rear window demister issue.

Apparantly the top bars around high level brake light and first individual bar all the way across are not part of demister and are a ariel!! etc...

Electrically there is continuity across first individual bar from one side to other but not on to bars above and below

On the ones around brake light there is continuity on each side on each of associated bars but not between one side and another.

I have also spoke to Picador who checked cars in stock and they found same

What I find disappointing is all dealerships have had to call tech support for info what happened to manuals/wiring diagrams
How do I know what is the truth??

hae the same first 3 lines not demisting, figured its part of the ariel but then wondered WTF that big ariel on the roof is for
