The long-awaited Nissan 370Z Roadster is finally available to order, and the final prices and specs have been announced. Prices start at £29,900 making the Z nearly £4000 cheaper than a Porsche Boxster and over £7500 cheaper than an equivalent Mercedes SLK.
According to Nissan, the 370Z was designed with a Roadster application in mind, meaning minimal strengthening was needed when removing the tin lid. A total of 61kg has been added to the weight, including the roof mechanism, bringing the kerb weight up to around 1586kg.
Both roadster and coupe versions of the 370Z receive a slightly tweaked version of the 3.7-litre V6 engine for 2010, but sadly this is just to get them to comply with Euro 5 emissions standards, and performance appears to be unaffected. Nevertheless you're still left with 323hp to channel through either a six-speed manual or, for the first time on a European 'Z', a seven-speed paddleshift automatic gearbox, and 0-60mph should still be managable in under 6 seconds.
Standard equipment on the 370Z Roadster is pretty generous, with a body-coloured solid tonneau cover, electrically adjustable air-conditioned seats, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel controls, bi-xenon headlamps and a set of bespoke 18-inch alloys.
There is a luxury option called the 'GT Pack', which adds black suede and leather seats, posh Bose stereo, cruise control and bigger 19-inch wheels, but it'll set you back a hefty £3300. Sat-nav adds another £1550 to the list price, and £1400 for the auto 'box for those that way inclined.
For those feeling really flush, the £1500 'Connect Premium' pack from the GT-R can now be ordered with any 370Z. The package brings a high-resolution dash-mounted screen, uprated sat-nav, a DVD player and USB connectivity.
Orders for the 370Z Roadster are being taken now with deliveries due to start on 1st March.
I prefer it over the 350Z and the extra poke moves things along nicely. My big problem with this car is the E46 Z4M avail with a lot less weight, more power and £10K less (3-4 yrs old example obviously). Can't help thinking if they had bolted a supercharger to this from the factory, sales would go up 10 fold.
Due to the bad weather, I've driven it once since collection. Was hoping to get it out this weekend, but a nice snow fall last night has put paid to that idea.
Glad they haven't given the 2010 car more power. I'd have been a little peeved if they had.

oh dear are we comparing new cars with second hand ones again. Will people never learn??? Tell me any car that you consider good value for money new, and you can counter it with a dozen cars second hand.
That, and the Z4M has looks only a mother could love.
This looks great and looks like very good value for money!
To quote Sir Mix-a-lot: "I like big butts and I cannot lie..."
Except I don't. Which is why I never liked the 350Z roadster. This is a little better resolved, but still too chunky for my taste. Coupe is very good looking IMO though.

i'm with ya...this and that megane thing are seriously ugly cars because of their huge rears...

1. I agree with you 2. Why on earth do Nissan have to give it more power, is 300HP+ not enough these day's??
It was a simaler case on the Mustang thread, I do not think people realise how much 300HP really is.
Great from the front but the rear is just terrible. Needs to be longer which would give the car a larger boot and room for a folding metal hardtop.
I love convertibles but these days I wouldn't buy one that didn't have a metal roof. Soft tops are far too noisy on a long motorway run and are just too vunerable to vandalism and theft.

Indeed, I have almost 200bhp in my day-to-day saloon car and I think it is more than enough. For the road, 300HP in a sports car... why would you want more? The price would certainly go up!
If you want more power, you can bolt the supercharger on yourself.
Far too bulbous, especially the convertible. This is a seriously unattractive car, the coupe less so than the convert.
While this is certainly a better car than the 350Z, the 350Z was definitely more attractive. They've shortened and plumped it up so much that it is just a little sausage of a car.

Do you not live in the real world? I'm currently looking for a roadster in the £20K - £30K bracket but there is no way I can warrant the 370Z over a 3 yr old Z4M when the latter will give me lots of change and more power to boot. This is a real life decision for me and I suspect it will be the same for many others. Ultimately the existence of the Z4M can only hurt sales of the new 370Z. If they had bolted on some blown air and given it an output of circa 380bhp it would have been a different story.
Yes, you could add one yourself but then bye bye warranty.
I'm with DB9VolanteDriver the zx has always looked hugly fat and bulbous, not what you want from a sports car at all. The rear end view says it all, it looks like the fat lady bend down to tie her shoe laces.
I loath the ripped head/tailight trend thats going on with this, Prius,Megane, but I really like the coupe, its a good looking car. Never really liked the looks of the 350z, far too bland in my eyes but this harks back to the 240/260zxs' of the past! maybe in a few years I might look to change the 300zx for one.
