Dominos delivery driver
Discussion
A mate of mine got blocked in by coppers in our friends driveway. He and his missus were then questioned at length about why they were going to to the door with Pizzas.
"Erm, we're here for a poker night with mates, we picked Pizza up on the way"
"Is this your vehicle sir?"
"Yes"
"Is it insured for private or business use?"
"Private"
"Are you delivering pizzas?"
"No, my missus is dropping us AND the pizzas off. People dont usually order a Meat supreme and two 30 yr old blokes"
"Right. Just checking. Be on your way."
I hate to be one of those "Havent they got better things to do" types, but havent they?

My mate used to do this a few years back. He said most of the time the tips were decent as most deliveries were to stoned peoples houses for the munchies.
They also pay for your car insurance whilst you are driving for them. He used to work Friday night and one other in the week and it paid for his Loan every month. So left his main wages for himself.

Been offered a job doing this. Anyone got any experiance? Whats the money like with tips included? Iv also heard of drivers getting robbed or attacked. Im not into that. Is it a real threat or just a one off type thing?

We added business to our policy and it cost £25 for the year. Just get it done so you don't need to worry.
I have done this for a bit as a student. When I did I was paid a flat wage then a pound a delivery petrol and the tips were mine. You have to have quite an economical car to make it worth while, one guy I knew did it in a rover 220 tomcat and managed to burn more than he earned. Funny really as he did it for petrol money.
The trick is making the most deliveries and taking multiple deliveries for the same area at once, even then I couldn't touch the guys on the company 125's for the amount of deliveries which equals more tips. When you factor in the delivery radius and the town traffic they are the weapon of choice really.
Insurance is a bit of a grey area, the terms said if I was on their clock I was covered but I never was entierly sure. Being a bit older and wiser it may be an idea to get your policy extended for business cover or see if you can have one of the 125's if the branch have them. That way you are definitely on their policy and have the better vehicle.
As far as being robbed goes I had the odd bit of greif off chavs who were mostly mouth. despite the fact the stickers say you only carry change it's lies. Id just keep notes in the car so no one got ideas and always leave the car ready for getting away in trashy areas. I knew of more robberies by arrangement if you follow.

I ran a Pizza Hut for a while and we had a few guys come to us from Dominos-Dominos in my area paid a bit less and the staff had to pay for their uniforms and their insurance-not the case at Pizza Hut.
It will be more than just driving-you will be expected to answer phones, make boxes and clean up. Although if its busy you'll just be out driving.
Basic pay + commision per delivery + tips.
I used to enjoy the odd driving shift-on busy nights you could easily make £25-£30 in tips on a 4 or 5 hour shift and if the person despatching you knows their stuff you'll end up taking 2 or 3 deliveries at a time minimizing your fuel costs. £15 or so in commision and the hourly rate on top and you can see why it's a popular 2nd job for some folk.
P.S. Don't rely on satnav-if you don't know the area getmaps and mark on the major routes/shortcuts with a highlighter to make your life easier.
