Exhaust clamps
Discussion
The exhaust clips on mine are the same...Although I don't need to replace them very often.
I would like to consider that the clamps are sacrificial and take all of the grounding.
If you used Jub' clips the the pipes would scrape instead. You would probably gain about 1/4 inch ground clearance in the process.

never really thought of that and there not that expensive it just the noise
Mine were down, but whn I changed to the S/Steel exhaust I turned them round as I had the car on a ramp...
Might be a bit fiddly scrambling under the car to do it though.
If the bolts are pointing down...When they ground out, the bolts might bend or the thread might get mashed up. Both ways resulting in being a ba$tard to get off in the future.

After replacing my downpipes a while back, I found that the S was grounding out loads, and this was mainly on the clamps. My biggest concern was that the tops of the clamps were very close to the sump, and I didn't really want that punctured!
I therefore changed the standard U clamps for a pair of the jubilee style clamps that I got from Autocross in Bracknell (01344 422220). These sit flush with the pipes and don't ground out any more as you gain an inch or so in clearance.
The bottom of the downpipes are looking a bit sorry now, but at least the sump is safe, and the car grounds out a lot less.
To keep Pies happy, here're lots of pics (sorry about the lack of focus! )...
This is how I had the clamps fitted...
This is how they look when new...
And how they look when they came off...
Here's a comparison of the two types of clamps...
And finally ( ) here's the new clamp fitted...

Think these clamps that you have fitted are actually called Mikalor (think the spelling is right). Excellent clamps that come in mild or stainless steel - also you can tighten them much tighter that the Jubilee type of clip. Pretty sure Demon Tweaks also stock them.
My S has presently got the down pipes welded to the exhaust. Can only guess that one of its previous owners has done this to stop the clamps catching - but it's not very good if you want to take the exhaust off - guess I’ll have to cut the down pipes. Anyway, the car has been run on 55 profile So'2 for years without any damage to the manifolds etc, the exhaust seems to slide of speed humps. But if i ever remove the exhaust, think i will fit these camps, don't want to bin the down pipes every time.
