Whats the law regarding very loud exhausts? not sports exhausts, but straight through unbaffled stupid loud?

I'm getting somewhat annoyed with a idiot in a supra with a very very loud exhaust ripping it up a private residential street every morning at 5.30am every morning to pick up his mate.

would prefer to know the legalities around loud exhausts / anti social behaviour regarding cars etc to see what the police can do? - if anything before anything else...

Look, not everyone who drives a Supra with the silencer removed is an antisocial git who likes to make sure everyone hears him coming no matter what the hour - but I am! blah

If anyone asks, it was like that when I bought it. And as far as I know, that's how it's supposed to be.

Good luck with that defence when you get a S.59.

I am pretty sure there are various laws that could be applied, the difficulty is to get the police sufficiently interested to do somethng about the person and the car in question. Years ago I had a similar problem, and the policemen I complained to made it clear that they did not want to be involved, citing such problems as "if that's how the manufacturers make them, there's nothing we can do" or "very difficult to get a conviction" or "have you tried having a word with him?".

So it's not really the law that is the question, it's whether or not you can get the police to enforce it.

I suggest adapting Motorrad's approach to dealing with another noisy driver...

This used to happen in my street. The tt would arrive every morning at 7.15, sound horn as a signal to the person he was picking up and then leave revving he nuts off his crappy diesel cavalier.

I went out one morning and asked him to stop as I worked very late into the night and needed my sleep. He told me to 'fk off'. Asked the neighbour if they could have a word and they basically told me the same thing.

I followed the driver home when he dropped them off at 4 then returned to their house on my way back from work at 3am. Rang the door bell and when he answered asked him if he fancied this being repeated every time he sounded his horn.

Never heard any noise from him after that and I parked my crappy old camper van which hardly ever moved outside their house blocking out the light for weeks on end.

Q:'Can you move it please'

A: 'fk off'
hehe

Thanks – thats great info. Apologies for not thinking about search – I'll blame the lack of sleep.

Not that long ago I was on foot patrol in town after the clubs kicked out and saw a lad walking along with a comical 'yoof' gait, dragging his feet. He saw me and started screaming "5-0, 5-0... it be t 5-0 5-0 init". I hadn't a clue what the tit was on about. I had to Google it when I got back to the station. Apparently a common phrase for the BiB in the capital. Beats the usual things they call us, I quite liked it. Now all I need is my surfboard...

I overheard a stereotype in the office use it a few weeks ago... also "da law, init' is quite common. I reckon you should become more teenage friendly and change the police livery on the car to "5-0, its da law. Init."

Then jamestigerwoods can start another epic thread...

Normally, I would write "Ok, must try harder".

So I guess it would be "mst try nothardr init"
