POTW: Aston Martin Rapide

Crouching tiger, hidden rear doors

Adam Towler really took a bullet for us this week. Whilst we were luxuriating in the February drizzle, he bravely headed off into the vile Valancia countryside to give us his thoughts on the Aston Martin Rapide. He even agreed to subject himself to a hoon on some idlylic mountian passes. What a trooper.

Back at home not everybody is sold on the 'four-door DB9' look just yet, but its hard not to find it appealing in this official snap from the Spanish launch. Next to giant bits of planet the Rapide's immense dimensions are somewhat harder to scale, leaving us instead to enjoy the elegance and smart packaging of this contender to the crown of king luxo-barge-coupe.

So as you recline on your wheely-chair and gorge yourself on Tesco's finest, perhaps seeing this on your desktop will remind you to spare a thought for the poor souls who go through this toil on our behalf. May your deity of choice bless them.

Decent photo, but rocky background somehow doesn't do it for me this time...

Lovely car all the same; saw a Porsche Panamera for the first time in flesh yesterday evening too.

Could quite happily imagine that as a daily driver, if the Euromillions pays off.

Having now seen both the Rapide and Panemera up close, there is no contest. I thought the Cayenne was FUGLY but the 4 door 911 - thats fallen out of the upgly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

The Rapide is absolutely stunning and the 'chunky' DB9 looks really work for me. Definitely at the top of my list after my numbers come up tonight....

I'm not keen on the Rapide. It just looks 'off'

Astons styling is getting a bit boring to be honest frown

I've also seen a couple of Panamara's in the flesh & it is fugly from side & rear views... fronts not so bad, not seen a Rapide up close but from all the pics I've seen, the AM would be gracing my garage...
