Has Lamborghini started to offer extended warranties for their earlier cars? A friend of mine is getting the itch for a Gallardo but the one dealer he has spoken to was a little cagey, insisting that a warranty would be given with the car but wasn't ready to say whether it was a lamborghini one. He repeated that it was an approved warranty, whatever that might mean?

I know you can with Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin so presume Lamborghini will have followed suit but just cannot find anything at all about it. If there is one, could you please point me in the direction of the details (price, excesses etc).

Thanks

At present there is no official Lamborghini used car warranty.

We understand the need to meet the specific Financial Services Authority requirements are holding back the factory warranty, that is available for other world markets.

In addition to being a Lamborghini dealer we also represent Bentley so we are fortunate to be able to offer the comprehensive Bentley Approved 12 Month warranty on all our used Lamborghini.

In addition the factory have recently introduced a 4 year new car warranty on all 2010 Model year Gallardo models, which will be a positive benefit when these cars come back into the used car market.

This is the reason I am currently pushing my budget to find an '08 car, so I can have my first year of Lambo ownership with a proper warranty...

ehhh?

That doesn't make sense.

The money you will save by getting a car even a year older '07' for example, will more than pay for any problems a warranty would cover, probably several times over.

Fair point, but surely that depends on exactly what, if anything, were to go wrong??

Alternatively you could go for a slightly older car, and then purchase a warranty from one of the companies that offers such services?

There are always risks. I decided not to use one of those warranty companies, I just save a bit of money each month, just make sure I have a few k in the lambo slush fund. A slush fund that is looking quite empty at the moment! frown

Ended up doing exactly this today.... Bought an '07 car with 4 months warranty remaining, best of both worlds IMHO, some time to shake out any problems and get them fixed under warranty, but also cheaper than an '08 car smile

I know that Dions (Elms Collection) cars come from him with a Lloyds Backed Warranty with a labour rate of up to £150 per hour which covers main dealers service centres.
