Not bad for a DB9

Respect for the "conversion" but shame about the DB9.
Why don't you do it the other way around. Take a DBS (DB9 on steroids) and then take all the body cladding off to make it look like a DB9 - see that would be cool - very cool.
I'm with clorenzen...........a DB9 proporting to a be a DBS.............sorry IMHO, very un-coolWhy don't you do it the other way around. Take a DBS (DB9 on steroids) and then take all the body cladding off to make it look like a DB9 - see that would be cool - very cool.
no offense to xkracer but it looks to me like it`s neither one nor the other(not a reflection on the workmanship, but the intent).it isn`t a dbs copycat so won`t be fooling anyone.it`s not a db9.it`s a db9 that`s been tampered with to look a bit like a dbs.it all smacks of sticking bmw m sport badges all over a 318.
I agree the car is a bit of a non-entity in the sense it is neither a DB9 or S but I like that, I wouldn't want something other people have that is the whole point of modification.
Turning a DBS into a DB9 whould be a lot harder best thing to do would be to find 2 owners and swap there panels!!!! Or there keys

To create a true DBS you would have to change bonnet, boot lid, wings, bumpers and side skirts, that little lot is £17K. Not much point in that!
That rear Kahn spoiler is not cheap but a lot cheaper than the £4K for a boot lid.
To a true Aston enthusiast, will pick holes until the cows come home but everyone who has been to the workshop thinks it looks fantastic, they probably wouldn't know the differences from a DB9 to an S anyway......
I would want to get all 3 in a line, DB9 - DB9Something - DBS that would be interesting.
When I have completely finished I will put a list up of all the things that was done.

Ok list is as follows
All body panels were OE except for the Kahn rear spoiler. Every OE panel had to be modified/reshaped to fit, this is not a straight swap over!

The DBS bonnet has two extra vents cut into it , a new bonnet was £4K and to replicate the extra vents in a DB9 bonnet would of been a nightmare so why I opted to match the existing. Mesh grilles were made to fit into the bonnet apertures mimicking the original but made in stainless steel. To do this I had to make a press tool to shape the mesh and a stainless surround was welded on then chemically polished. If anyone is interested I can now make these and a very simple swap over from the original.

The lower front mesh grille....what a piece of cr
ap, you pay all that money and all you get is a bit of expanded steel painted black, rusting away to nothingness! I wasn't having that so I made a full stainless mesh grille to match the bonnet just a courser mesh.

I though the side wing straker a nice touch they look a hundred times better than the DB9 (another POS Ford item). This had to be re-machined to fit the DB9 wing and the plug changed to match the original loom, but a terrific difference worth every penny!

The rear has the DBS diffuser complete with DBS tail pipes and one of Ricks rear exhaust boxes was fitted for a bit more noise. The customer prefers the original 'red' style lights as opposed to the DBS clear type which is fine by me I think they work nice with the reflectors on the diffuser.
So to re-cap
DBS front bumper modified
DBS front splitters (ouch these were expensive)
DBS rear bumper modified
DBS side sill covers modified
DBS wing straker/repeater modified
DB9 bonnet modified
Full mesh grille pack made by myself in stainless and polished
DMS rear exhaust box
DBS tail pipes
DB9 head lamps LED ring conversion
Front parking sensors fitted
Later type main front grille
Kahn rear boot spoiler
Full body respray
And what did this lot cost him???? Wouldn't that be telling

Never been a purist I am afraid....they are just sheep.....bahhhhh... And I have never agreed with their philosophy but that's me and they are entitled to their opinion. If I wanted a chav car I would of done it chrome like that abomination a few threads back.
This is just a little more tasteful, it will not pretend to be a DBS, I was asked today by someone what DB it was and I said a modified DB9, his response, 'cool', and the guy must of been in his fifties and not a baseball cap in sight!
There is no harm being a little different, it is allowed.
The owner of this DB cannot care what other people think' he likes what he likes, and I can respect him for that.
One day soon I will own a DB9, I think they are terrific cars, and yes I will do something to it, definately lose the rubbish on the wing and the cheap materials used to produce the grilles and other various parts, but no way will it be standard....ever!!!!!
