Pic Of The Week: Porsche 918 Spyder
Make that 'pics' as we fail to decide which view of the new 918 concept is our fave...
We know it's supposed to be 'Pic Of The Week' and not 'Pictures' in the plural, but the new Porsche 918 Spyder concept looks so good from so many angles that in the end we couldn't pick one.
So this week we're suggesting you 'rotate' these three beauties on your desktop, and try to imagine that's the inside of your garage we're all drooling over.
We suggest a schedule that goes something like this:
Today: Upload the front three-quarter shot, thus allowing you to fantasise about lifting the door to your garage and gazing in awe at your latest acquisition.
Monday lunchtime: Brighten up your day by strolling round for a view of the rear.
Wednesday: Enjoy the aerial view from the cloud you're undoubtedly floating on, somewhere in motoring heaven...
(By the way, who writes this rubbish?! Ed)

I saw it at the show yesterday... IMO, the Porsche stand is crammed-full of cracking new products but I don't think they had the space to give the 918 Spyder enough prominence. Ideally, it should have been raised up a bit so that you could really get a good look at it!
As a concept, it certainly looks mighty impressive but to productionise-it, I foresee some important changes most notably the windscreen surround just doesn't look substantial enough and the same goes for the roll over hoops.
Overall, I came away slightly less impressed than I did when I saw the first production C-GT on the stand a few years ago. The 918 Spyder is just a bit too much of a concept and arguably too feminine for a modern hard-core porsche at the moment but it also reminded me a bit of the original Boxster concept...
When the actual production 986 came out many people considered it to be somewhat of a let down (lot's of jokes about how you could barely tell which end was the front etc.) but I'd say that that design has stood the test of time so let's hope they repeat it - albeit at a slightly raised price-point!
