Harry Metcalfes (EVO) Griff in Sprint.
Discussion
If he writes articles like this in Evo...
Griff vs Zonda
"both cars offer a ferocity of acceleration that you'll simply never tire of.
It doesn't seem to matter what gear you are in with the Griff either, it just gets on with it; big time"
He say he is going to write more regulary in EVO.
Then Griff prices are going to shoot up..
(chims may follow)
Limted supply.
If you want one 'relatively' cheaply.
Better buy this year..
I'm keeping mine.
(!!! You could buy 25-30 griffiths for the price of one zonda !!!!)

He would appear to have known what he was doing
"there were some proper horrors to br found in classified land"
Knows what to look for:
"I'd assembled a dedicated TVR inspection kit that consisted of a 3" circular mirror on an extending handle, a special extending magnetic pencil torch and a probing tool that looked like I'd just nicked it from a dentists surgery"
He got this one:

Did you see the article on his garage in this months EVO? More like a collection........
From his previous writing style, I'm hoping for a fairly balanced view, but am not expecting any pulled punches. I remember when he ran a 550 as a "main car" for a while and put some serious mileage on it - thoroughly enjoyed reading about actually USING a performance car, but also being stunned at the servicing costs.....
Looking forward to seeing more on TVRs in EVO in the future.

Actually, i don't think he will be that balanced, (ie more likely to be positiveIt comes across as he really likes it - In Sprint

I think that is true of any of the exotica if you put miles on them...
Did you see the bills that the lamdo has in evo.
Big mileage, for an exotica, put to serious use...
So, they have the mentality, if you use it hard, bits wear out, and need replacing, NOT a fault.

But he also says " most owners confessed their car was actually rubbish and only fit for the scrapper" when talking about chassis. Comments like that tend to stick in the mind. I'm glad I've just sold my rusting piece of rubbish Griff vs Zonda

Can't make any sense of your post above. The point I was making that he's made a massive generalisation, as I believe you have. Yes there are some poor cars in the classifieds, but don't for one minute assume dealers have the best ones. Mine was sold in the classifieds and I wouldn't have said it was ready for the scrapper, but it is only 10 years old

they are old cars.. in the private classifieds.
very few for sale...
people tend to keep the good ones.
Or the dealers have them.
higher proportion of the dross, ends up in the classifieds (same probably true for other exotica)
I've sold/bought in the classifieds in the pastvery few for sale...

a 'higher proportion' is not a sweeping generalisation..
Just an observation, that the same cars can keep reappearing, ie the ones in private hands with problems.
Good ones tend to get snapped up quickly.

I sold mine in Jan and it was cracking value. Good chassis, new bushes, brakes, tyres, Gaz's etc..good paint, super interior etc..Highish miles albeit new engine just run in. Smooth and Strong £11k. Best car I've ever been in let alone owned. Missing it already but had bought Jedi single seater and didn't have space for both. Now just need to move house with bigger garage and quickly buy another Griff before they go up. I know TVR Mads have a good reputation for only selling quality so rekon Metcalfes comments will sum up entirely the feeling of every Griff owner that's been fortunate to own a good un. First drive in the Jedi tomorrow - 215 bhp/295kg - hoping it'll be fantastic - it bloody well needs to be to compensate for Griff going! very few for sale...
