Chassis paint match and rust inhibitor
Discussion
I would like to apply some rust inhibitor on a couple of the chassis members on my Tuscan MK1 just under the doors and then reapply the same colour paint to the chassis (it looks like a pale grey colour). I don't have any major area of concern as I have completely cleaned the chassis over the winter and just need to touch-up some areas.
Any recommendations would be appreciated as well as how to get hold of the paint for the chassis?

I am doing my chassis at the moment as it has surface rust over it.
I am using convensional methods of wire brushes etc to clear the rust.
Then some of this http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?man...
Then prime with a zinc based primer http://www.bilthamber.com/electrox.html
As for getting a colour to match the chassis I heard it was possible by mixing black and white hammerite paint.

Hi
I used some of the bilt hamber products when I touched up a couple of areas on mine and used their underbody wax protection. Their rust converter gel was good stuff (deox Gel) and after application used zinc primer as stated above.
On the paint front I tried for ages, even contacting several TVR specialists and came up with no paint code (RAL of BS colours). Therefore I took the battery holder bracket to a local paint supplier and they matched the colour and satin finish. This worked quite well (I'll see in a year or so if it holds as I only did the job over this winter.

I was very impressed with that stuff http://www.bilthamber.com/electrox.html was recommended to me by a PH Griff owner
White hammerite is a very close match and a touch of black mixed in should get it spot on but it ages if exposed to UV or heat and goes yellow, so not ideal!!! Any good paint factor should be able to mix some decent paint up if you can unbolt something for them to work from (I am not familiar with your chassis to know what is removable!!).
Painting with a brush or an aerosol can if Leonard Brooks can supply the colour in a can, because I don't have access to a spray gun.
The RAL 7038 colour looks darker than mine on the screen, but it is probably the same as my 2004 Tuscan, I will see if I can get a sample to confirm an exact match.

I tried the RAL 7038 which was too dark and I then tried the RAL 7035 colour on my chassis, but it was too light so I took the battery plate to LB and they matched it exactly. The colour on my Nov 2004 build was ALC-367 Grey, if this is any help to others. I have also taken a picture of the two different colours sprayed on white paper which shows the difference, although it is difficult to show the match when using different materials. ALC being on the left.
