Getting married in two weeks, me an my old boy went for a father and son Stagdoo (don't think he would have appreciated what Amsterdam had to offer!).

We took an overnight trip to Applecross. The scenery was simply staggering. The day before we found one of the roads we planned on taking was shut due to heavy snow. If you have a look at the photos with the Pork in with around 2 1/2 feet of snow beside it, this was the road! What a job they did of clearing that in one day! And you guys down south moan about a few inches! Just kidding guys smile

The pass over Applecross is simply stunning for views, although the road isn't really ideally suited to the car (996tt) as its not the most agile of things on super tight and twisty roads, but the coast road, WHOA! Amazing. See pics!! There are a few sections that we really tight, but I still really enjoyed it.

In the morning there was a fire in the hotel, to which the fire alarm was belling its head off. Sitting the dining room, we were kindly informed to move out to the car park..... Only after we had finished out fry-up. Brilliant! It was only a small fire in the loft, but sitting eating with everyone else out in the car park was slightly worring though. Certainly brought an entirely new dimension to 'Smokey Bacon'!

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the photos. All in we covered just shy of 500miles. My Dad had only driven the car once before (last year in Southern Ireland), and took a 'wee' shot that lasted almost 2hours! I have to say, the MPS2 have really made a difference to the car. So glad I took the advice of everyone here. Thanks!

This road was closed only the day before.

Scenery doesn't really get much better than this.

Applecross Pass

If you look closely, you can just make out the road snaking its way up through the hills...

And higher still!

The coast road! as I said WOAH!!....

Back to twisties again..

Last wee cheeky one of the car smile

This run has to be on your list of roads to cover. The road going there and coming back we almost as good too!

Cheers,
Stevie

Excellent pics Stevie, took the same route last August on a road trip with the OH, the Applecross road was amazing as was the coastal route we took afterwards. Scenery looks even better with the snow!

Hi Rich,

thanks!

yes, the scenery never looks the same twice in Scotland! The snow does add to it. Thankfully there wasn't any on the roads.

Cheers,
Stevie
