Video: BMW E30 M3 Rallying

Pure engine sound makes this clip-fest a 10 minute treat

YEE(E30)-HAW... (Geddit?)
YEE(E30)-HAW... (Geddit?)
Here's a treat for all you E30 M3 fans out there - a ten minute compilation of rallying clips from the early 1990s, delivered with 'pure sound' intact.

The footage is compiled from various rounds of the French Rally Championship, and as well as a glorious sound-track of that classic BMW motor in full flight, there's plenty of the visual spectacle that tarmac rallying delivers - with yumps and power-slides aplenty.

It's the perfect homage to the M3 generation that many would consider to be the purest incarnation of the breed. So turn up the volume, and hit that 'play' button...

Hartge had a 6, as did Alpina in the B6S with 254ps both nose heavy road cars.

If I can mention the actual video for a moment, that's some impressive driving 1:29 into the video.

Offerings from Hartge and Alpina aren't M3s, which is what the article is about.

Yes I imagine he will be "yumping" out of his office window because of the shame.

I accept that. The "tuner" versions were based on and looked almost like the E30 M3.

Didn't the hartge one have the motor from an e34 m5 in it? Quite a lot of people seem to shoehorn in e36 and 46 m3 motors if pbmw is to believed.

Thanks for that - what a chuckable car the E30 is.

I was secretly hoping this would be the guy who sucessfully entered a 1991 BMW 318i (with an E30 M3 engine transplant) into the Mexico round of the WRC this year! That man is my new personal hero.
