Does anyone know much about TVR's use of the 'Pantone Violet' as their corporate colour? I would be interested to learn (for historical research) why purple was chosen and how long it has been in use for? It certainly makes a bold statement, and a high percentage of cars rolling out of Blackpool have been painted purple. You would not see that with many other marques.

Cheers

I don't know the answer either, but when I got my first Chimaera 9 years ago I really wanted a purple one. At the time the dealer said I might have a hard time selling it on and the factory had never done a purple one before. When I went to the factory and told the main man at the paint shop I fancied purple he was pretty keen to do one especially as 'the boss has a thing for purple' - or at least words to that effect. I'm guessing the use of a corporate purple/violet is not the result of extensive research by an expensive marketing/PR company realising the feel good factor of purple may relate to a large bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk but more to the whim of a certain Mr Wheeler.

cos purple sounds like burble

Probably also because all the primary colours were used and its the most unusual/outrageous secondary colour.
