Hello the world, can you help. I have a 996 tubo, I have up graded the turbos and remaped. All runs well but the rear spoiler has decided to take some time off and wont rise. A dealer has told me to replace the workings at great expense. is it a common issue that anyone can help with?

there appears to be a little fluid leaking from the near side ram.

Any help would be great.

Had similar problems, bought a secondhand kit on ebay for £125 and all is now good smile Noticed there were rear spoilers for sale on there again last week with the rams etc for £350, might be worth keeping a look out.

Buying on ebay sounds like a good idea, 350 quid even better. can you remember what you searched under?

I assume you bought X2 rams plus any other bits, wiring etc.

Ok, I am making some headway, thanks to you guys biggrin ..... The nearside ram is leaking, I am guessing that it is a fixed unit and that a short term fix is no good, So I need to aquire one ram. under the cover there is a reservoir that holds the fluid/lub.(its almost empty and the spoiler is in the down position). I am guessing that this is some kind of mineral lub.

Anyone know what lub this or what/where to obtain it????

For someone who has no idea about the workings of these things, I am enjoying finding out how this all works. I will either get it right, or totaly balls it up and end up spending twice as much (its the journey that counts right).

Hay Tim2100, I have just been told what a lurker is. Sorry. I have been with pistonheads all this time as I had a 993 turbo that I sold using pistonheads some time ago (Wish I never sold it, black on cream in 100% condition, if I remember rightly I sold it for £36k, and when I watched to roll down the road with its new owner I realised how attached I was to it. (Its only a car for crying out loud)!

Anyway, this is the first time I have used any kind of forum and its been great, only wish I could offer people the help that they are giving me.

Have a good day.
