Hi.

I know this subject has been often talked about, but despite my efforts searching this forum and buying the Steve Heath Wedge 'bible', I'm still unsure as to go about replacing the gear remote bushes.

I've looked under the car, and I can see two of them, but the rest of my gearbox is very dirty and oily, so all is not so clear.

I've read people's responses to this on other threads and they range from 'easy' to 'quite tricky' !

On one thread I found it mentioned a diagram on Rimmer Bros. site, but that image has been unavailable since I first searched for it weeks ago now!

Any advice is much appreciated, I have new poly bushes waiting to be fitted and the weather forecast is good for the weekend!

I'll be under the car doing other stuff anyway and I'd like to get this done while I'm there!

Thanks,

Martin.

Two bushes, one each side of the extension, support the steel strap (probably the ones you can see).
The other two hold the alloy extension to the rear vertical face of the gearbox, harder to get at but not impossible.

Drawing, it probably is this what you are looking for:

Noticed myself while installing new bushes that the shims (number and type) can be different. At least it is on my wedge.

Thanks guys!

That drawing is very handy, as I also have speedo drive issues which I will investigate also!

Cheers,

Martin.
