2011 Shelby GT 500: Sounds Good To Us
Ford reveals latest hot Mustang's battle cry
It's likely that you're going to need cheering up on a Monday, especially if the sun is shining as brightly outside your office window as it is here at PH Towers.
Well, don't say we never give you anything, because here is the perfect remedy to distract you from the fact that you are office-bound (well, for 2min 35secs anyway) - particularly if you're a fan of US muscle.
It's a short video, courtesy of Ford, of the new MY 2011 Shelby GT500 gargling, whining and burbling away to its V8 heart's content.
So pop in the earphones, crank up the volume on your PC, pretend it isn't your phone that's ringing and enjoy. Oh, and start composing those letters to Ford asking why we don't get the Mustang over here in the UK...
Discussion
With petrol prices what they are here, it's probably just as well they arn't offically imported.......
If I lived in the USA I would almost certainley have one......maybe even over a Challenger SRT8.
I still think, they should have gone with re-using the GT350 name on these rather than GT500, as the 500 will always be associated with the sound and shear pressence of a big block FE under the hood.......as good as this supercharged modern Ford V8 is.....it's no big-block.

I believe the GT350 is actually a current model. Fox and Shelby were demonstrating it at this years Shelby American in Vegas!

Lovely - although what about the suspension? Has it still got a live rear axle?
Saw one of these beauties last night - '68 GT390 fastback in 'Bullit' Highland Green. Stunning thing:

Live axle is fine. It's been winning on the race track and is no probs on the road. Also very good at the drag strip. Saw one of these beauties last night - '68 GT390 fastback in 'Bullit' Highland Green. Stunning thing:

In comparison test the live axle Mustang has won every encounter agaist the IRS equipped 5th Gen Camaro and Dodge Challenger in the handling stakes.

Went on holiday to the States a couple of years ago, rented a Shelby Mustang GT-H from Hertz for 3 weeks. Only 350hp rather than Shelby's usual 450 (?)hp-plus, and to be honest, rather slow with its auto box. However, it really had presence and a great sounding engine. Lots of attention wherever we went.
I would love the GT500!
