easiest engine swap for a cheeky 'sleeper' on the cheap.
Discussion
hi looking at a possible project that would not take forever but would leave me with something dare i say 'cheeky' and quite comical to boot. the easier the engine swap the better and the cheaper the better but it has to be servicable for the road and not rusted to death. i know that the brakes and suspension will need looking at too and possibly the donor gearbox to come along with the donor engine.
all ideas welcome.

V6 conversions for various Corsas and Astras seem popular so can't be too hard to do if you are good with the spanners. There are also a few V6 Novas around which make good sleepers.
Alternatively get a Nissan Almera or Primera with the 2.0 sr20de engine and turbo it using parts from the sr20det for a cheap power boost.
Engine swap wise, personally I would love to buy an FD rx-7 with a blown motor and transplanting a v8 in, but this involves lots of loom work apparently as well as modified front subframes.

Volvo with 2/3/7/900 series with a V8?
This. Not really been done in the UK yet. Old Volvos can be picked up for £500 and have massive engine bays so anything will fit. Rear axles are good for 400 odd hp, just slot in a V8 and gearbox.A 1.6L one of these for a couple of hundred quid:
then put this engine in it (straight swap ) ...

This makes ALOT of sense, or alternatively you could choose an E36 Touring as the new home for said M3 Lump. Mk3 Golf Estate with a VR6 swap, The estate and the donor car can be had for less than a grand if you look hard enough and it really is a plug and play swap. A fortnight max to swap everything over.
Add a supercharger into the equation and your potentially looking at anything between 250-290bhp
