Have any of you heard of the RZ Ultima? Well, it's everything Ultima except for the body, which to me resembles an Ultima GTR anyway. What do you guys think? Check out the link below:

Wow, that certainly looks a lot more modern and appealing IMO. Would sell like hot cakes.

Looks a little Audi R8 for my liking, but certainly very good! Ultima needs very minor mods to the standard body to make it a bit more modern. I always do, and will continue to receive fantastic support from the general public on how the car currently looks, but I look at things like the Gumpert as to how maybe it should look now?

The current rolling chassis is fantastic and I believe any future Factory or third party body should fit onto that to support new and retrofit apps..

Silly question but why will it *never* be a reality, I'm trying to work out as nice design as it is, if it has actually been modeled on an actual Ultima chassis, if it has then isn't it just a case of molding the body parts?

Given his previous work I'd like to think he isn't the sort of guy that wastes his time just doing impossible designs, on an unrelated note I've always been a huge fan of his KC-427 design.

Very cool and very appelaing, even if somewhat reminiscent of the RCR-SLC

the ultima shell as it is today is a real unusual look among the supercars available. one reason why people like it just as it is, me included. This styling is really very close to Audi and McLAren and would actually make the Ultima look like a production car, who really wants that ?

Me? I can see not liking a design because it looks too much like something else, I totally get that but, I've never understood why kit cars have to look like....kit cars?

I'd love a production looking car that I can put together myself so I can get a car I would like at a price I could actually afford, I'll ruffle feathers but I'd say that most kit cars that aren't actually replicas (and even some of those) are fugly as hell, no one seems to want to admit it.

With that being said I don't think that Ultima's are included in the above, I actually like the look of an Ultima GTR, especially the Can-Am, I love that it is unique, I love that it is essentially a group C style look, they are great looking for their own reasons.

If it were at all possible wouldn't it be great to have a complete Ultima where you could have the 'production car' look body set and the standard 'factory look' set and you could change it over depending on how the day/month/year took you.

To be honest I don't think it looks anything like an RCR SL-C...

It's definitely shooting for a different market but wouldn't it be a great way for Ultima Sports Ltd to diversify and perhaps capture a wider audience, heck even if were under a different company name? Heck maybe that would even be a good business plan, start up a new company who also supplies all the Ultima GTR bits (and most importantly NOT hide this fact) but with the above body?

According to http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/rz-ultima-co...

Not sure if that's the official line from Racer X Design or if they are just making it up for more 'news'....

With that being said this seems to be the press release:

well boys and girls, the news just in Racer X - can produce you this look for 60,000 euro's - Providing you have an Ultima ready for it.

60k for a bodykit.

I like the idea of a different look, but there are limits.
Ill stick with my little bug eyed beast as it is thanks. Well at least until the price is around a 6th of that quoted.

thanks, especially when you have a crash, you can really repair the car at a fraction of the cost of a production car. It was a strong point for me that the body work was not too expensive.

The first body will always be the most expensive, as they would have to make the tooling. Then the next guy should get it a little cheaper, but how do you explain to the first guy why he should pay for the tooling cost's....... Difficult to explain the cost unless they charge everybody 60K..

Yes it can be done, and yes there's always going to be a more trendy and uptodate shape, but the expense is always a killer if you have to make a profit from it. If it's labour of love and making a profit would be nice but not the main goal then I hope somebody has a go.

If how ever the CAD drawings of the shape where available, and maybe a stretched Longer WB version could be done then I could do the moulds based on my chassis. But I wonder how much they would want for the plans ??
