Lotus F1 Returns To Norfolk For Historic Festival

F1 Lotuses old and new set for the Classic Team Lotus festival

If you're suffering from motorsport-related withdrawal this weekend after last week's Le Mans, F1, Isle of Man TT and BTCC fest, then Lotus may have the perfect solution - the Classic Team Lotus festival this Sunday at Snetterton.

Examples of every F1 Lotus designed - that's 35 historic GP cars - are converging from around the world, to be together for the first time ever.

Hazel Chapman, widow of Lotus founder Colin Chapman, will open the Classic Team Lotus F1 Pavilion, which will displaythe historic Lotuses - though the majority of the F1 cars will also be demonstrated on track.

Current Lotus F1 drivers Jarno Trulli, Heikki Kovalainen and Fairuz Fauzy, as well as team boss Tony Fernandes, will be there too, with the two T127 2010 F1 challengers.

The T127 will be demonstrated on track, by special dispensation of the F1 governing body (as 'testing' is banned in F1) - this will be the first run for a current Lotus F1 car in Norfolk since 1994. After its demo, the Lotus F1 car will head straight off to the European GP at Valencia, which will mark Lotus's 500th Grand Prix.

Other highlights of the event include the full range of Lotus road cars, and two Lotus race series.

Man im up in newcastle this weekend so will miss it.

They had a few cars on display in Chapel mall in Norwich centre a few weeks ago, I saw no less than four Evoras in the multi story car park on the same day.

There will also be some superb close racing from the Production BMW (PBMW)championship on Sunday morning. If you've never seen a PBMW race you're in for a treat. There's more overtaking, thrills and spills in one race than you get in a season of F1. Well worth getting there a little earlier to see the action.

Hopefully Snett has traffic sorted as around 20,000 attend the Super Bikes and BTCC. The event is looking better every day with Martin Brundle now in the Lotus 72 and even Mike Gasgoigne driving a Lotus 49. Full event info on

Got my tickets too, taking Dad for father's day. Something like 35 Lotus grand prix cars from over the years and will be the first time I've seen and heard a modern F1 car in the flesh for about 10 years, can't wait!

It was an awesome day. An example of every F1 car, some of them being driven round the track (including by the current Lotus Racing drivers), plus the Lotus Racing T127 being given the beans round the circuit.

Top job by all involved.

Totally agree with Maldini35 always enjoy watching the Production BMW's.

Really enjoyed yesterday (was there with Motul) can't believe how many people were there, some interesting 'moments' on a couple of the Elise Trophy races too.

Just how good did the T127 sound!

Would love to put my name down for an Evora Cup car, only £120k!

Agreed, the T127 did sound superb. Mind you, the various Cosworth DFVs in the back of the old F1 cars weren't exactly disappointing!
