Run-out Special White Alloys For Focus RS

Fast Ford gets a whiter shade of wheel

You can take the car out of Essex, as they say, but you can't take the Essex out of the car. Ford might no longer build cars in the County That Taste Forgot, but Essex will forever be the spiritual home of Fords in the UK, particularly fast ones.

It's therefore pretty fitting that, to mark the end of Focus RS production, the Ford super-hatch is metaphorically donning a set of white stilettos for a final night out (presumably down Southend).

But enough stereotyping - the WRC-style 19-inch alloys are finished in white and will cost £500 for a set.

"The demand for Focus RS has been astounding. In barely a year since launch, we have sold almost our entire UK allocation - thanks in a large part to this Focus RS continuing the proud tradition of combining high-performance with practicality and affordability," says David Calder, Ford of Britain's product manager. "We expect demand to be high for these last cars and we're giving customers the chance to personalise them with this exclusive option."

500 for a set of 19" alloys from a main dealer?

That sounds cheap doesn't it?

Without tyres of course!

i would take them.. £500 isnt bad, and i would imagine that includes tyres. as i have never seen it say 'excludes tyres' in the extras list.

The way the article is worded sounds like they're charging you £500 to paint them white.

Not exactly a bargain.. but then if ford can find people to pay £35K for the RS500 then I suppose they'll sell some of these too.

As someone who once made the mistake of buying a car that came with white 20 spoke alloys I can recommend avoiding them like the plague. That is unless you like taking your wheels off every fortnight to clean the f**king things. Royal pain in the arse, but if you didn't do it, they went yellow and looked like st.

that's how i read it too.
they come with silver 19" wheels of that design don't they?

so you could just take these to a refurbist and save yourself £250 if you actyually wanted white wheels...

Just checked the e-broucher and they come with these alloys in silver as standard, so it is as others have said £500 to have them painted white.

Should of kept them for a light weight special..they look stink but if they where distinguishing the car from the standard model to a light weight more focused model, ala the impreza spec c, I would forgive them.

Wondered how long it would be before we got one of these - please think of it as gentle teasing rather than a genuine attack (with any truth in it).

Besides - I'm an Essex Boy myself, born and raised in Ilford and Epping, so I think we could call it self deprecation? wink

'Tis true. When i visited PH Towers Riggers was sitting at his desk wearing a white shell suit and white stilettos. It was quite disturbing, but faintly arousing.

Oh, come on! Essex is full of chavs! Wheels look horrible, though. Gloss black, however, would look awesome.

So that's why you put it. You're from an area of Essex that pretends to be from London "init". losertongue out

As some one who ons a Astra VXR Nurburgring I can say this is a stupid option I can get max 20 miles before my alloys look dirty again.

they look good for about ten minutes and then you spend agers cleaning them again.

Sadly there are allot of 'chavs' in Essex, but as said they are appearing everywhere all over the country.

As for the white wheels, i'm not keen myself... it has been over done on every other car you see.
