Got myself a nice Porsche Becker cr22 for the 993 & I was hoping there was a plug in & charge lead for an iPod,does anyone know where to get one of there indeed is one available?
& yes it is a cr22 not a cdr22,the cassette version although I'm led to believe it does have the controls for the cd changer
cheers, craig

Hi Craig,

Got the Becker Grand Prix last month for mine. I had to buy the Ipod cable from Ebay Germany. Costs around £70.00

Hope you're enjoying the car.

Loving the car mate!
I take it the kit you're talking about is the one that's specifically sold for the grand prix models?
There seems to a lot of different option on eBay!
I'm not too bothered about being able to use the fascia controls to change tracks/playlislts etc the main issue is that it charges the iPod.
Oh & that it works with my model of course!

I bought a simple lead off e-bay that connects to the cd changer socket on the back of the cr-22. I think it cost me about £15. This lead goes to a standard jack that plugs into the headphone socket on the top of my i-pod. I can also use my phone in the same way.
Separate charger needed though through the lighter socket.

Yeah this is one of the ones I was thinking of,unfortunatly it means cluttering up the inside of the car with another power lead which I'm trying to avoid, ideally I'd like to have one that uses the oblong iPod connector that goes in the bottom so it could simply power the iPod every time the ignition is turned on.

I looked for such a lead for ages - apparently it can't be done as the connector to the cd autochanger does not have a power connector in the block (the autochanger has its own power source).

Not having a power connector hasn't really caused me a problem. The i-pod plays for ages between charges so I simply take it into the house every few days for a top-up, or I can dig my charger out in the car if I'm a long way from home!

Does the CR22 (tape version) work with the Porsche cd autochanger?

Yes. My 996 came with the cr-22 tape + autochanger combi. I've swapped the head unit for a single slot cd cdr-22 though and binned the autochanger (not literally) for the i-pod connection.

Bummer I really thought there would be a power connector that let the cr22 control the iPod & charge it-guess this must be for the later Becker models like the Mexico etc

The solisto is out of stock according to their site.
Shirley there must be a cable that goes into the cd autochanger socket that can charge the iPod?!
Does the auto changer have it's own power supply?

this is still the only thing I can find but I'm just a bit nervous about "splicing" the power supply for the live.

I have recently fitted an I-wire cable to my CR-22. I ordered it from a chap in America. It cost $49 and I was stiffed £20 import duty. It attaches to the autochanger out on the back of the radio and then pops out in the left foot well. It came with really good instructions and the radio removal keys. It took about 30 min to fit. I added a Brodit angled mount and adjustable Ipod bracket (about £30 for both). It works well as long as you turn the backlight on the ipod off (otherwise there is a bit of a whine through the speakers). It charges the ipod but you still need to operate the ipod unit to change tracks.

Hope this helps.

Roofrack my friend, you are in fact, a legend.
Threads on here & 911uk & still nothing came up so thank you very much, I'll be ordering tomorrow.
Might drop them a line with my order as well as I'd tried searching all the usual places & still couldn't find this type of cable-think they may need to add some more keywords to their site!
Many thanks,
craig

Careful with the charging ability there though! it seems it's set up for the old 12v feed which was only used on the first few gens of iPods. Later iPods use a 5v charge feed.
