Type approval number??

I think type aproval is like the SVA test manufacturers put the car through before its put on sale.
Bit like a post build and design MOT, it makes sure the car conforms to the vehicle Construction and use regulations.

They are all on the roads via the Low Volume / Small Series Type Approval Scheme ( link). The upside of this is that they don't have CO2 ratings either so even my 2005 Sagaris is classified as a PLG (Passenger / Light Goods) vehicle which means an annual road tax of £185.

TVR used to issue 'certificates of conformity' for this. I'm not sure where you'd get these now but people are registering their cars on the continent so I assume there is a source (I'm not aware of one) or a work around.

these numbers are often (but not always) stamped on the plate on the inner wing, esp. when the cars are built to be exported to foreign countries.
These figures are different for each model.
