I'm going to have to get rid of my lovely 944 in a couple of months, and given that I'm probably also going to come into a bit of redundancy money, I thought I'd look to get something a bit more up to date. But I'm a bit stuck.

Requirements are:

Sub 7secs 0-62.
Enough rear seat for a forward facing child seat.
Preferably rwd.
Decent reliability.
A decent quantity of style and individuality.
Costs £5-8k

I like coupes, but am not adverse to something a bit more saloony. Current favourite is the RX-8, but I'm a bit put off by the running costs and lack of low down grunt. I'm put off Beemers by their ubiquity. A V6 Alfa GT quite appeals, but it's FWD and well, you know, likely to be broken within a few minutes.

So... any suggestions?

Sorted DC2 ITR or stump up a bit more cash and a DC5.

Bigger options, Monaro or Mustang. Supra might be worth a shout too.

Or 4 door wise, Impreza, Evo or maybe something like an MG ZT260 V8.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm not sure about the ITR - seems to have similar performance to the RX-8, doesn't (IMO) look as good, is FWD and more expensive. Cheaper to run?
The Monaro seems to be out of my price range, unfortunately.
The 'stang is an intriguing thought and one I'd not considered. I could only afford a '99-05 one, are they any good? But put off by the wrong hand drive and the reports of antique brakes and suspension.
Supra is a possibility too...
The missus runs an Impreza, and whilst it's nice, it's not nice enough for us to want two.
The Evo I'd love... spesh'ly a Tommi Mak (tho that's out of my price range), but I'm not sure I could live with the running costs.
Not keen on the MG's looks.

For my budget, I'd have to look at a skyline R32 GT-R or a real munty R33. The latter would cost way too much to keep going, and I'm not convinced that the former would be much better. I'm open to being convinced tho, as they do look great.

Thanks again for the thoughts.
