Ah well - just a couple of days after posting about the greatly improved reliability of the latest Tuscans, mine came back home tonight on the back of an AA truck after blowing a head gasket (I think - there was coolant leaking out the front somewhere, and lots of smoke coming out the left exhaust)...

That'll teach me to say nice things about it!

Does anyone have any ideas how long this takes to fix?

You know the chap that was there with the other limp Tuscan? His Tamora is in at the moment having the head gasket done so I will relay the length of time. Went to Power last week I believe.

Sounds like you lot have had an entertaining time

Sorry to hear about the head gasket - could happen on any car; I remember getting a secondhand VR6 a few years ago - took it for a tour of Scotland and 2,500 miles later pulled into my drive only to find the head gasket let go. Also had a BMW K100 where the head gasket went after only 15000 miles.

If only every vehicle was as reliable as.....

What happened with the Cerb back window?

We saw it drive off whilst we were waiting for the low loader and it looked like there was no back window but we couldnt be sure.

Dunno if you were still there or not Matt.

I asked Tony (Big T - what a nice bloke) if Julie could have a passenger in his Cerb as she'd never been in one before and drooled over Jeremy's outside our place in the morning. Tony said no problem, hop in.

As they shot down the straight the car got a bit noisier, both thougt nothing of it as Tony was gunning it (plus its a bit loud anyway). Coming off the straight Julie said to him "Do you know what happened back there?" Tony said "No, cars fine" then looked in his RVM. No rear window.

According to the speed trap guys at the bottom of the straight, the glass' demise was akin to that of Bluebird (boat) - it flew about 100ft into the air, then came down hard and smashed into thousands of pieces.

Driving was stopped while Craig and James went to check out the track. There was glass all over the right side of the track, so from then it was single file on the left, one at a time

Hope you get it fixed soon Tony, and great to meet you.

Greg

Sorry to hear about your car Ed. Have you any ideas yet on timescale/price?

Hi Neil,

The car is now on it's way to the dealer (very impressed with the AA, as they turned up exactly when I asked them to this morning), and they will then ship it back to the factory.

They've not said how long it will take yet, but I hope to get an update in a couple of days once they've had a look at the car.

As it is still under warranty, I'm not expecting to pay anything.

Hi Ed

Really sorry to hear that mate. When did it happen, at the event or on the way home?

Mines in next week for a slight missfire. It also turns out I was one of the mugs they didn't bother to give the close ratio box to, so it will have to go in for that change in a month or so.

C'est la vie.

It happened at the event - just after one of the runs.

How do you know if you've got the C/R box? I just assumed mine has it!

If you can hit 60 in 1st you have it, if you can't you havn't. This is how TVR claim thier 0-60 times, as the have the Qbox installed and don't have to change gear to get the result, (so I've been reliably informed).

Hi Ed

Do a search of the Tuscan forum on close ratio and you will find a lot of info.

e.g. this and this

What really annoys me (aside from me not bothering to check or notice) is that it was not mentioned when I got the car. The first I know is 9 months down the road when the factory phone my dealer saying it's got the wrong gearbox and they will send the right one through eventually.
