hi all, hoping that somebody on here may be able to help me with what seems to be a very difficult task!

my name is Chris Cook and i work for Wolfrace, i have been asked to try and locate the Wolfrace Sonic promotional vehicle, but i can't seem to get anything other than 'its in somebody's garden under a cover in kent'

does anybody know exactly where it is?

if it's worth it, we may try and speak to the owners with a view to restoring it for promotional use in 2011 - to help with our 40th anniversary celebrations.

thanks for any help you may be able to give - i am not trying to promote wolfrace - just trying to find the car!

optimistic indeed.

i can remember having a conversation with a person claiming to be the owner about 2 or 3 years ago, he asked if we would be interested in the vehicle.

several pc technical issues later and i no longer have his contact details.

thanks for your help so far

The power of PH! You might find it, I'd try the local TV and radio too.

Be great to see it done up and running!

Wolfyman, this is great to here that you are looking to get it back on the road. Nick Butler is a genius, he actually did some engineering work on my hotrod back in the day.

Sonic was always my fave show car, the fact that it also drove was just the icing on the cake

I spoke to Nick Butler a while back, he is a very interesting guy, and quite modest. The car was on my bedroom wall for most of my teenage years, and I would love to see I back to it's former glory. Please get in touch and I will help in any way I can.

Hi Chris, I was Googling Sonic to see where it had got to, and found your posts. I helped Nick Butler to build Sonic all those years ago, and later, having set up my own business, sprayed it Ferrari Racing Red for Barry Treacy of Wolfrace. I'd love to hear what's happening with it now. It's first showing was at the Geneva Motor Show back in '81. My we had some fun there. I've spent over a year there since. Regards. Garry.

Just wondering what the current state of play is regarding the car. Have Wolfrace bought it, borrowed it, seen it?

It would be interesting to see the car & to know what plans Wolfrace have for the car.

Hi all, myself and son have owned the car since it was sold by wolfrace receivers way way back. At one stage wolfrace were going to use the car in a celebration of Nick Butler for I believe his Birthday, they were going to get as many of the cars he built in one place at a show. This was a few years back and in the end they didn't do it as Nick was going to be out of the country, well that's what we were told. Another guy was then interested in buying the vehicle from us but in the end we couldn't come to an agreement. Historicaly the car has only been used at I think 3 shows, one I don't think counts as it was about 20 years ago and was my sons schools summer fair, the other was at the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood for a celebration of motoring, they even had Nigel Mansalls F1 car there as the other star attraction. I am still trying to get hold of a copy of the Playboy Article that was a cutaway type diagram of the car, I don't mind if it is just a photocopy of the thing. I did hear of someone that had a copy, but would not let me have a copy of it. It is a really remarkable car and as some may know has 2 x Rover V8's to drive it, 2 cockpits that go up on a motorised ram, a Computer (if you can call it that) that rises out of the bodywork between the driver and Passenger. It has 6 wheels, 4 at the front and 2 at the rear, pop up headlights that work as side lights when they shine through the grill at the front. The radio is a Blapunkt Stereo with the speakers mounted into each headrest, the rear of the vehicle was taken up by relays and batteries that were just huge.

Hope this may be of interest to people and if you want to know more then feel free to contact me. My email is m16pab@hotmail.com

Regards

Pete

What's this about the Wolfrace legacy? I thought they were only known for their ste wheels?
