Just wanted to check - with 18" tyres, 36psi in the front and 44psi in the rear?

Thanks

Yep, that's the official recommendation. However, some folks run pressures a little lower for more comfort. 32/40

I ran them like this for 4 years Mark but 2 weeks back I dropped them to 34 fronts and 40 rears, wow what a diff . You should try some diff pressures.

This will worry you all but my indie always recommends 28 fronts and 32 rears! The ride is so much better and the car is a joy to drive whereas with the Porsche recommended pressures the car jumps about all over the place and rattles like hell because of the higher pressures.

It's weird, why would they recommend pressures such high ?

Too right it does , that 44 psi is in the hand book though , since coming down the car feels so much better.

just checked mine this morning as it didn't feel quite right last time I drove it & the specialist I use must have dropped the pressures when they serviced it. I have always run 2.5 front, 3.0 rear & its now running 2.25 front, 2.60 rear - think I'll leave it a while to see if I get used to it & if I don't back up they go!

The other strange thing is I had new rears on the car shortly after I got it - they lasted no time at all and the indie said worn out in the centre indicating over inflation - I had stuck rigidly at 44psi as per the handbook up to then. So I'm waiting to see how the new ones wear at the 32psi setting. But I'll say again - the ride is so much better with lower pressures.

what tyres were you running? Done about 4k mls on my Pirellis at those pressures with no problems

They were Pirellis but they're now Contis - I like the Contis better as well!

Thanks guys - it was running 32 in front and 36 in the rear but then it dawned on me I should be running 36/44 - the ride is a lot harder so I might drop it back and experiment.

Many thanks

Pressure should say on the fuel lid. Isn't 44 for the 295's?

Yes for rears it is but this is very hard.

I prefer a hard ride, but I think Mark has narrower tyres so thought the pressures may be different.

I've got this low with mine. Currently settled on 28 front and playing around with 32 - 36 at the rear. 28 front and 36 rear is standard in the 986 Boxster which runs same 225 40 and 265 35 rear. Been reading about chalk marking. Might try this but I'm not sure if that's really more for track use. I can't imagine scraping the shoulder of my 265 rears on road but it's a nice thought.

Odd that the C2 pressures are identical to the Turbo pressures. There is a bit more weight on the Turbo. Related, I can feel if the TP drops below the recommended 44 at the rear, I don't suggest doing so, the car gets slidey/squidgey, almost one tonne on the rear wheels (and when cornering, most on the outer wheel)

I've settled recently on 33 rear.

I am definitely more tuned in to Pressures now. Drove my 996 after 2 weeks away getting recovered and a new slave cylinder. I noticed a difference between going round left and right bends. Car definitely felt a bit loose entering left handers. Checked pressures and the right rear was on 11psi. Ok so perhaps the sarcasm may be lost in translation. I dont really believe this qualifies for being tuned in. I will say that even though the car felt a bit looser on one side it still managed to get round the bends. The side wall looks like its taken a hammering though.
