Update: PistonHeads Track Day At Rockingham

You can still book to join us on 20th September for an exclusive 'PHers only' track day

Places are going fast, but space is still available for anyone who would like to join us at Rockingham on 20th September for this exclusive PH track day.

PistonHeads has teamed up with Rockingham to offer a PH-exclusive track day on 20th September, and whether you are a track legend, or timid novice, what better way to spend a day than with a bunch of PHers and an empty circuit?

We'll run an open pitlane format so you can go on and off track as you please and, as places are limited to 60 cars per event, you can be guaranteed plenty of circuit time. All you have to worry about is when to pit for a brew.

The aim of PH track sessions is to keep things nice and relaxed, so please don't feel intimidated if you have limited track experience, the Rockingham team will ensure you are well looked after and as it's a PH event there will be plenty of friendly faces around to offer you advice if you want it.

This is a full day event, using the 1.94 mile long International Supersports Car Circuit as used by the BTCC with its mixture of long straights, fast bends and more technical low-speed sections too. The PH team will be there with some of the long-term cars, and our chaps RacingPete and (Racing)Riggers will no doubt bore you with racing tales from long ago...although they are probably best avoided.

We are very excited to be heading to the newest race circuit in the UK, and we hope that you are keen to join us at Rockingham to make our first visit a cracking one.

The price for the day is £190, and includes breakfast. Tuition and helmet hire is also available on the day. To book, please vist the Rockingham website.

Oh, and for your info - the noise limit at Rockingham is 105db static.

Sounds good! A trackday that includes breakfast in the price can't be bad!

Would love to go, but I don't think other PHers are going to appreciate a bog standard 1.2 Fiat Panda acting as a moving chicane.

PH hopes to make it a regular thing, we would like nothing more in fact. Lets hope we can make the track sessions a success and we can run on onto 2011 smile

Thanks for the positive comments so far chaps, we do this for you and I'm pleased you like the sound of it.

i really want to go to this, as really want to do a track day in my car. but cant bring myself to take it onto a track in case something happened as after scrimping and saving to buy my dream car i would have to sell it if something happened to it as wouldnt be able to afford the extra cost frown

sadly the elise spends the vast majority of its use on motorways, but i wouldnt change it for the world!

would it be acceptable to come down and take a look without taking part?

I m away on hols!!!!
I was at Rockingham on a Ferrari 355 experience last year.
Fabulous event but limited laps!
If not on hols i'd go there with my Morgan.
Its a 4/4 1600cc but i don't mind being passed by supercars!
Its the experience of driving legally at speed on a track thats the addiction and fun.
Hope all who go enjoy and no serious prangs!

Would quite like to go but already booked for one on 18th with CKC and Omex at Llandow.

Couldn't see any details about extra drivers anywhere, might be persuaded to attend if I can subsidise the cost by letting fellow PHers use my car.

To be honest, I'm not sure what Rockingham do about this. I'll give them a bell on Monday to find out for you

You're kidding... 105db is crazy loud. (They measure it at 75% max revs normally, at 0.5m 45degrees to the exhaust.) My Caterham R500 measured at 95db on the same method at Castle Combe today...

PH track day - what an excellent idea. Rockingham looks great on the BTCC telly coverage. Isn't there a great big concrete wall like the yank ovals on the start /finish straight...?
Best bring the t-cut... biggrin

This looks great, I'm very tempted thumbup would like to get an idea of the other car's that are going before I book though, I have a feeling me and my Saxo VTS will be considerably out classed frown
