Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale Revealed

Hotter version of Maser coupe lines up for Paris debut

Say hello in your best ‘Clifford the Dragon’ tones to the new GranTurismo MC Stradale, which Maserati says will be the fastest, lightest and most powerful car in its line-up when it goes on sale in the first quarter of 2011.

Inspired by the Trofeo GranTurismo MC and the race-winning GT4 motorsport models, the two-seater Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale will debut at the Paris motor show next month.

As well as being a paid-up member of the 300km/h Club (186mph), the car is said to be an answer to customer demands for a GranTurismo which can balance on-road driving needs with a bit of extra stimulation on-track, incorporating the handling and aerodynamic lessons from Maserati’s three racing programs. (They say.)

The GranTurismo MC Stradale produces more aerodynamic downforce without producing more aerodynamic drag, and gets a 450 hp version of the 4.7-litre V8 fitted to the Gran Turismo S on which it is based. The newcomer also has an aggressive new look to back the extra muscle with a revised front end and side skirts.

It seems finally, the car gets a better stance as they put the wheels a bit further outside and the track looks much wider now than on the old version of the car.

Much better, this.

It looks bloody gorgeous - improving on perfection if you ask me - but why, oh why can't it be more powerful?

Italian politics for you, I suppose. It's still lovely to know that such a thing exists, though.

No mention of reduced weight. It would have to lose 200kg plus to be remotely interesting.

2-Seater Eh? - scratchchin - Perhaps in removing the rear seats some of that weight has come out... ears

Looks nicer than the GT S but I do hope the weight is significantly lower.

My RS4 (a not exactly light, 4-door family saloon) as a higher power-to-weight ratio than the GTS.

leaving a large luggage space. What a pointless thing to do. It already has a decent enough boot.

This car is simply not suited to a "Stradale" version. It is a GT by name and clearly by character.

I'm sure it's going to sound great. Looks great too. But two seats make it completely uninteresting. They should have put in a lighweight interior, but kept the rear seat.

Agree with the point of needing a serious weight loss. 250kg IMO

Love this car. But struggle to understand how they can charge (potentially) six figures for a mere 450bhp Gt in today's market.

It's like a DBS. But cheaper. And suddenly that front reminds me of the old 250F.

Nice.

Maserati can do little wrong with me at the mo. They have some very desirable cars going on.

(Lets skim over the potential link-up with the next 300c smile )

This looks a winner in my book.

Making it a 2 seater rather an a 2+2 will lose it a lot of potential customers.

MC Stradale?

I've seen him at Brixton Academy. Lyrical genius.

I'll see myself out.
