Photograph everything! In the engine bay routing of p.a.s pipes [if yours has it] route of engine wiring loom, photo and label every connection etc etc. Believe me a few months down the line these photos will be priceless. At all points on the chassis, route of brake pipes, handbrake cable, electrical connections, petrol pipe etc etc. Photo and note which way round for bolts thru front and rear wishbones etc, some of these are critical as to which way round. They will go anyway with the body off but some will only come out one way with the body in situ. As usual for this forum, any questions ask, those of us that have done this can point you in the right direction, finally good luck and keep us posted along the way. I can imagine the smile of satisfaction on your face when you put her all back together and turn the key, A GREAT FEELING.

Just spent another 9 hours stripping bits off and undoing bits.

I'm getting worried about trying to conect all the electrics back up now. They are currently all coiled up in a couple of plastic bags and sat on top of the engine.

I think i have disconected just about everything now apart from 16 chassis bolts and the steering colum. (Thats for tomorrow).

Today :
Engine bay wiring,disconected.
Earth wire to o/s wheel arch chassis, disconected
Earth to front of engine, disconected
Earth rear N/S engine, disconected
speed sensor wiring, disconected
reverse light switch wiring, disconected
Handbrake switch wiring plugs, disconected
Fuel pump wiring, disconected
Fuel pipes from boot, disconected
Clutch fluid drained
Brake fluid drained
Clutch pipe through O/S wing, disconected
Brake pipes through O/S wing, disconected
Front chassis bolts in engine bay, removed
Rear chassis bolts in boot, removed

All going well so far. Some jobs have been difficult and required some thought but most have been very straight forward.

Sounds like good progress.

I hope you don't mind, but I've copied your list as a checklist for myself to use when I start my refurb in a few weeks!

About 50 miles east. Stamford.
You're more than welcome to pop in for a look / advice/ a chat though.

I'm using a check list compiled by another member at the moment. I can forward it on if any one would like it? (I'm not sticking to it but using it as a guide).

Today:

All remaining chassis bolts removed (three snapped).
Front ARB brackets removed.
Handbrake mechanism disconnected.

Checked all over.
The only thing I found that I had forgotten about was the pipe from the engine bay to the O/S front wing carbon canister.

Steering column still connected so that car can be repositioned ready for the lift at a later time.

If you need any help with the lift off I'm only down the road at Bourne, happy to lend my 2pworth. I did the 'body off' refurb on my Griff last year so its still fresh in mind!

Let me know.

The body is off ! after a day of lifting, adjusting, chocking, checking, readjusting, rechecking, more lifting etc etc.

Rolling chassis is now in the garage awaiting stripping down, body is on the driveway.

Chassis condition looks better than I expected. Only the outriggers have lost the powder coat and have what looks like surface rust (still to be checked).

Photos to follow....

Only photo of chassis so far:

Well done on getting the bodyoff clap Check the chassis over carefully. I stripped my chassis down, cleaned and degreased everything, then you can start to see the problems. Apart from the outriggers the rest of the chassis was very good, it did however have surface rust/breakdown of the powdercoat, at almost all of the weld points on the chassis.[typical examples shown in the pics] I can only assume TVR did not clean any of the welds prior to powdercoating.

I forgot to mention - The body lift was done on my own, with the only assistance being to lower the body back down. It is possible, using an engine hoist and a couple of jacks and some axle stands, but i wouldn't recomend it to anyone.
