by law it has to be within 150mm of the steering column, so i'd be looking for a small plastic hatch in the upper driverside foot well region (although, being a renault, they probably thought a little plastic door would be too expensive, so it will probably be just the connector bare:

looks like this:

Clio II its under the ashtray in the centre console, I know it's not the same car, but may give you other places to look.

By Law! why would there be some legal requirement to even have a socket yet alone where to site it? Just curious, not questioning you!

Its between the seats under a rubber mat if it has the moveable console then it has to be all the way back to get access.

Really 150mm??? i can think of quite a few that are not although they may clear this rule due to left/ right hand drive confused

Its a ETA (european type approval) requirement that mandates where the diagnostic socket should be located. The same law that mandates having OBD systems in the first place!

Like i say odd the Ford ka for example has the socket right on the ecu in the passenger footwell or the Espace which has it under a panel in the passenger footwell so mayse thaey get away with it because on lhd it would be close enough???

Whilst there is a mandatory distance I don't recall it being as little as 150mm.

The link (earlier in this thread) to the Bluetooth dongle talks about the connector having to be within 3 feet and that you must be able to access it without the use of tools.
