This is a Troll thread, right?

One of the most "iconic" 50's ever and you're asking if we've ever heard of it?

Nice try...

You can't afford a Fizzy. Get the modern-day equivalent, an Aprilia DNA

Yeah :/
Basically it a bike crossed with a scooter so automatic and helmet goes where the fuel tank would be on a normal bike. Pretty st to be honest I would rather just have a scooter.

A good Fizzy will be quite expensive.

The Aprilia/Gilera DNA is just a bike shaped scooter so it's a twist and go device, fun for bit but still not a 'proper' bike.

What about an Aprilia RS50?

They are supposed to be very good and are a 'proper' motorbike. I've added a link for you below. If you turn up at school/college on that the girls will be falling all over themselves for you (honestly they will, chicks dig bikes...).

In the Monkey household we have both an Aprilia RS 50 & a Gilera DNA. Both are great bikes in their own right, but to be honest, the Aprilia needs a lot of TLC and you need to be on top of your mechanical skills to be able to look after it,or have deep pockets for repair bills, Even aprilia advise a top end rebuild every 18 months. They're a bit fragile as most have been thrashed & trashed by previous owners.
The bike is more than capable of hitting 65mph without too much fuss and returns about 65mpg. Big bike feel from a 50cc ped

The DNA is a different beast all together. Twist & go with a motorbike feel. Easy to work on. What looks like the petrol tank is actually a cubby hole for your crash helmet (or anything else for that matter).
My sons DNA will just about outperform his brothers RS50. Again 65mph without too much fuss, The only things we've changed is the Variator, clutch springs & exhaust.
It will give well in excess of 80mpg, but surprisingly is more expensive to insure than a similarly aged Aprilia RS50.

If you know your mechanics, then the RS50 would slightly sway my oppinion, if you dont, then the DNA is the one.

Think of it like this. Any moped whether a scooter or a mini racer will have the same (28 mph ?) top speed but maybe a big difference in price. You are only going to be riding one for a year before being able to drive a car or ride a full sized motrobike. Do you really, therefore. want to spend a fortune on a race replica that is no faster than the Puch Maxi riden by an elderly person just for the looks ? I was young once and understand about the "cred" but cann't help laughing when I see a 16 year old who has spent a fortune only to go a little faster than a push bike on a long downhill.
My advise is get something "cheap and cheerful" and enjoy the freedon rather than spending all your money on a classic FS1E or a modern race replica moped. Save up the difference in value and put it towards car driving lessons / 125cc bike for when you are 17.

Derbi Senda? Where as an rs50 will look the part but not go the part (EG fast) the Senda looks the part, is well kitted out (USD forks, disks back and front ect) and will go anywhere! It was good for me for 55-60mph although i may have had a 70cc head, cant remember tbh! Remeber and check the exhaust for a restrictor as i had a standard exhaust which i took off to find a washer between the head and the exaust welded to the pipe. When i removed this it gave me another 10-15mph on the top end!

With a good exhaust and carb re-jet the modern sports 50s (Aprilia, Derbi, Gilera - with the 6-speed watercooled engine) will do 60mph+ even in 50cc guise.

Rose tinted specs aside they are far better than a Fizzy... getmecoat

All of which is illegal of course for a 16 year old who can only ride a restricted to 28mph moped. Anything else is not to be recommended. You can't ride a 70cc bike at 16 and that includes a big bore kit on a 50cc. Doing such means you are riding without a valid licence and risk your insurers refusing to pay out in the even of an accident.

Sorry to sound like an old fart but better to point out the negatives than encourage someone to break the law

My lads feel a lot safer sitting at moving traffic speeds rather than the restricted 30mph.

I can also say that both their bikes are still 50cc with no tinkering having been done to the combustion process of the bikes. The gearing has been changed on both bikes. Roller weights & Clutch springs on the DNA, The Aprilia has just had a new barrel & piston fitted (Std 40.3mm & very carefull running in) and only different sprockets. previous owner took one piston ring out, it went like a rocket, but obvously didn't last long untill it gave up the ghost

I've been out on both bikes and was surprised they could pull a 15 stone gorilla like me at a steady 50mph, so a 16 year old stick insect will go a lot quicker.

I had the MHR Kit on my NRG I lost my bottle at 85 on the clocks thing was an animal even with a yasuni c16 pipe on it. Trouble is can spend over 1k on an engine to get to a true 20bhp+ I searched on ebay for used parts etc... and still cost me like £6/700 for mine and I think was running around 18bhp to be honest needed a better ignition and pipe but decided to stop spending money at that point.
