had from brand new - replaced the passenger wishbone (1 year ago approx)
replaced both track rod ends - approx 2 months ago

had it tracked no end of times.. frown

starting to get to point where I just dont know what to do anymore... frownfrownfrown

had front end up on stands and did the wheel lock to lock and cant feel anything with the rack (common problem)

had a look at the steering torque sensor.. http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/other-mechanical-el...

I've had it from brand new, its done 76k miles and been doing this for about 2 maybe 3 years, I just lived with it.

I think maybe it is the rack after all, but tbh I dont mind this.. I can do it myself and my dad or mate to help me, 3 hours the book says but can take mt time over a weekend.

Not badly priced on ebay etc with warrenty, which tbh probably means more then Vauxhalls own (they do anything to get out of paying for anything)

It will be gthe power steering motor & ecu (inc torque sensor) comes as a columnn, its mega common & vx have been battered by watchdog for it so they may sort it for you worth a try anyway smile

If they wriggle out of it then you can get recon units that are cheaper than new smile

Wont be the rack they are just a normal manuel one so very simple the power assistance is done by the motor on the column & it will be this that is knackered.

Worth an email to vx customer service as quite often they will give you a ref to quote to a dealer that means you wont have to pay for them to check it out ref a poss goodwill payment

hey, popped along to VX and got teh usual garble about how they'd have to chekc it and that'll cost this that and the other etc..

Anyway, I was at the scrappy yesterday and talking to a guy who deals in cars, and very politly told me he's had a few like this and said he replaced everything on a corsa before and found it to be the column smile

My mate runs this scrappy for his dad and have been friends sinceI could first drive.. god 8 years now lol

Anyway he said he'd do me a column for £90, so my next thought is to find out if the columns are the same from corsa c to corsa d (I know the igintion barrel is in different place but the column might be the same) and if they are get a column from a corsa D and fit my anc parts to this and hopefully fitx my car for good, also hoping thatthe newer columns of the corsa D have had better parts fitted and not break again..

If not, another corsa c column it is but try and find the newest with lowest mileage and have a stab at that.. I dont fancy having VX pull down my pants and have their wicked way with me

Dont bother with the Corsa d column as its noyhing like! Best bet might be a company called BBA remanufacturing? A recon column is reasonable and will have a warranty....

glad you said that, saves me anymre hassle looking into it.

A few lads have recommended that compnay and some others, who do recon one and 'uprated' bits that 'fail'

Gonna have to look into it, rather glad now I only replaced 1 wishbone and not everything smile

I do know they changed the position of the front suspension lower swivel joint. You can see on any later Corsa b or Tigra that it has a "crank" in the joint and change to the strut.
