Hi.

So at 33,000 miles the inspection light came on to Z4 3.0 Sport Coupe (I presume for Inspection II).

I just wondered what a good price would be, and whether keeping the Full BMW Service History is worth it?

Thanks in advance.

not sure on costs exactly, but it won't be particularly cheap. an inspection II service for my dads E92 M3 was circa £7-800 IIRC. it didn't need new tyres, brake discs/pads etc. was just a routine service. for a Z4 3.0 i'd expect £4-500 at a guess.

if there is a good, well reputed, BMW independent specialist near you, then i'd have thought they would take that down by well over £100, probably £200. to someone who is into cars, they'll know an indy service history is every bit as good as a full BMW service history....

Thanks for that. I am looking around for BMW specialists for this reason as well.

I'm surprised it needs an Insp II after so few miles, unless you've been driving it very hard.

Mine has done 50k and wants Insp 2 in the next 2,000 miles according to the onboard computer.

Perhaps someone reset it and got the order your servicing of sync? local main dealer wanted almost £400 for inps 2 which ammounted to a glorified oil change, filters, plugs and the check a few things which would be routine maintaince for anyone who gives a damn about their car. As I have already replaced the spark plugs within the last year I cannot justify that and will be taking it to an independant specifialist to get the jobs done that it needs.

Well I'll be honest, I was test driving the car, and I saw that 'inspection' came on. Given that it has already been serviced once, I presumed that it was the Inspection II.

I think I'm going to find out a bit more info.

If it has only been serviced once and the car is on that number of miles, it looks like an Inspection I.

Turns out that Inspection 1 is due in 1,300 - which sounds more like it. Quotes have been around the £250 mark.

That sounds about right - the next service due on my Z4R is an inspection 1 and that price fit in with what I have had quoted.

BMW dealer price, but it was an approximate.
