After hijacking a thread, I thought I'd start a topic.

So the bad news came and went: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/2975231....

I've craved for one for the past 7 years. But Heinz had not bothered to make one, how do they not get my telepathic messages?

Sherman thinks he's found the recipe, but I'm sure its well off:

Found the recipe that heinz used

Baked Bean Pizza

A pizza with the lot combining all the toppings kids will love, and all the goodness of protein-rich and high fibre baked beans; this is a quick and easy option we're sure you'll love too!
Prep Time: 10 Minute(s)
Cook Time: 20 Minute(s)
Servings: 4+
Ingredients

* 1 large pre-prepared pizza base
* 2 tbsp tomato paste
* 220g can HEINZ Baked Beanz in Tomato Sauce
* 2 roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
* 1 green or red capsicum, deseeded and chopped
* ½ red onion, thinly sliced
* 50g button mushrooms, sliced
* 1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (basil, parsley or oregano)
* 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 220ºC. Place the pizza base onto a lined oven tray and spread with tomato paste.
2. Top with HEINZ baked beanz and sprinkle the remaining ingredients evenly over the pizza.
3. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through and base is crisp.

It may take you a bit of trial an error to get right. From what I remember of the pizza it didnt taste exactly the same as baked beans so having a few other ingredients blitzed into the sauce would make sense.

Correct. I've put beans on pizzas before, and its no way the same. I think draining the liquid may help, as they tend to sit in the pizza sauce.

Strangely I have been thinking about these pizzas more and more lately as a memory of my late childhood that still remains fresh in my mind. Can still remember how they taste and even the texture of the sausages on the ones with bits of sausages on (and how much it bloody hurt when that first bite melted the skin behind my front teeth and tried to create a new cavity in my head, every bloody time I cooked one).

Typical PH coincidence that merely days after these re-enter my consciousness I am subjected to nothing but the very recipe from which the joyous pizzas of old were hewn.

After starting the topic, it was too much, I had to make one.

Attempt 2:

I suggest you drain the beans in a sieve, they don't need to be gloopy. Don't listen to the timings and check it every few minutes.

It's never going to taste like the original, but it was close and damn enjoyable.

That looks like the nastiest frozen deep pan pizza ever made tongue out

Seriously, if you're struggling that badly for meals just give me a call and I'll cook you something edible, as opposed to something which would shame a pissed Glaswegian student!
