Heated seats have stopped working. Any Ideas?
Discussion
Hello all, the car in question is a 987 Boxster S.
I jumped into the car yesterday to take her for a nice long drive as it has been sitting on the drive for over a week covered in snow looking very sorry for itself.
I pushed the button to turn on the heated seats and nothing. Red LED not comming on. I tried to turn on the passanger one and that too won't turn on and no red LED lighting up.
My first thoughts are it could be a fuse blown. I've yet to check this but am i right in thinking there will be a fuse for the heated seats in the fuse bay by the driver side footing area?
If it turns out the fuse is not burnt out, is there anything else i can do/check? and if it's not the fuse any ideas what else could of gone wrong? The fact both chairs are affected and not one leads me to think the problem is comming from no power, i.e fuse etc but any other ideas would be really appriciated.
Cheers

Hmmmm, the battery did indeed die on me and has just recently been replaced. I'm intrigued why you asked that aswell as asking are my windscreen washers working. What is the connection there?
Do you know if the heated seats have worked since the battery was replaced? It is something to do with the software forgetting the options are installed if you change the battery without keeping an auxiliary power supply connected to the car, solution - trip to the dealer to have the options re-installed.

As said it may need re-coding back onto the vehicle as an option seen this a couple of times before.

There is no retrofit kit for heated seats, if you retrofit it can the software add in an option that the car was not speced with originally or if there is no retrofit path?Mike

Its just an option in a control unit to tell the car it has it available. Just needs activating.
Mike
As Mike says the car has most likely gone back into transportation mode and needs re-activating.
I note you are based in West London. If you are anywhere near Uxbridge give us a call and we can plug the system tester in and sort it out for you whilst you wait F.O.C. It's a 2 minute job.
Do call first though please.
