whats the best free map my run app

as above really new to iphone an would be interested to see the best free app to see where and how far i walk with the dog ,

im after an idiot proof one.

Have a look at Viewranger, this can use open street maps. As far as I understand, the maps are cached once they are downloaded so you're not using lots of data.

Edit: This is only really useful if your phone has a GPS. If you're just looking to mark your route on a map and check distance any of the on-line map resources will do that.

www.everytrail.com They have smartphone apps that work with the site. Probably your best bet...
