Does anyone have a Brink/Thule removable towbar on an E39 Touring? I'm trying to figure out what part of the bumper would have to be cut to fit one of these. Is it the black inset part at the bottom or the body coloured part higher up? If anyone's got one of these and could give a description, or better yet post of photo, it'd be much appreciated.

Sam - I had a witter permanent one fitted to mine and they had to cut quite a bit of the rear bumper to fit it as its deep compared to the mounting point. Also means the electric point is mounted up and behind the bumper which looks neater but is a bit more fiddly to connect.
I thought the removable bars came with a plastic box cover which covers the bumper cut when not in use?
Can get a photo of mine if it helps

I had a Brinks removable towbar fitted to my E39 Touring. The cut out is in the body coloured part of the underside of the bumper and is fairly discreet . A clip in cover is provided as part of the fitting kit which needs to be painted to match the car.

If you PM me, I've got a PDF of the fitting instructions for the Brinks Kit for the E39 Touring.

It goes in the black diffuser not the bodycoloured part if you've got a Sport. IIRC BMW do a new diffuser to fit it.
