Hello, a little help please?
I am relatively new to my 996 but really like it.
To start is very slow and lazy in the turning over of the engine. It had sat for a while when I bought it and battery was a bit flat. I use optimate on it all the time but was suspicious that the battery was not powerful enough. I changed for a new battery but no difference. I am told it is unlikely to be an alternator problem so am suspicious that the starter motor is at fault. A replacement is not that expensive from porsche shop as long as I send in mine as a replacement.
Any advice gratefully received.

It could be the starter but it could also be wiring to the starter, (earth in particular).

It might be worth getting the car looked at by a specialist to avoid wasted expenditure. They will also be able to do the exchange on the starter motor for you.

Mine has a 'lazy' starter motor, I thought they all do it, battary condition and starter motor are just fine, it is an OPC car hand has had the 111 point check less than two months ago. Compared to mainstream cars, it appears the starter motor turns the engine over a little slower, is this a function of a flat six? or just the marque?
