Having read loads of good reviews on the Van Damme "blue" series studio grade 2x2.5 cable, does anyone know if their "Hi-fi" series 2x2.5(with the clear outer sheath) is essentially the same? I can't find any info on it..

I haven't even bought all my new gear as yet but I've got the carpet in my new place going down next week so I need to get the cables laid before hand and the clear version would be so much better as will be seen slightly.

Many thanks in advance!!

You might want to go for the Jean Claude cable instead.

yes I heard it kicks some serious butt wink

Seriously though, just get yourself something thicker than crappy old bell wire and you'll be fine. Most hi-fi buffs will advise to spend 10% but personally I'd look to spend as little as is feasible (whilst ensuring half decent conductivity of course).

So, harmonise the room decor on a "blue" theme.
"I used my speaker cables as the essence for the ambience here".
Priority is the sound, right? smile

I would if i could but I can't,the main feature wall (which the rear speakers will be up against) has already got some crazy paving style expensive wallpaper,if I mention changing it to suit the cable,I'll be toast! frown

I'm confident the blue series would be more than adequate, but really just wondered if their clear sheathed 2x2.5 "Hifi" version would do a similar job. The clear is actually 15p more expensive (per meter) than the blue series but I know that doesnt mean a thing. Either way, i need to get the bloody stuff down before carpets fitted next week..

Might have to just bite the bullet and get some more expensive Cambridge Audio Ultra from richer Sounds instead. Its only for the rears anyway..

I use the Blue Series Studio stuff, bi-wired between my Myryad MI120 and my B&W 686 speakers. Can't say I noticed any difference from my old Cable Talk 4.1. smile

Ah, now I understand your concern.
The rears' cables will have to go up the wall with the (sacrosant) crazy paving wallpaper.
If they then offend, paint them to match the wallpaper.
Domestic harmony then ensues.

I bought speaker cables and i/c's from www.silverhighbreed.com and I'm well happy with them.
I have had expensive cables in the past and these easily compare well.
